[MOD] Banshee Dogfights

Post by cQuence » Sat May 31, 2008 10:35 am

READ THIS SHIT!!!!!!!
First of off, this Mod for the banshee newbs so dont flame about this mod sucks doggy dumplings!.

I just went to scnr and changed all the vehicles to banshees, and tryed to make no weapons (gav rifle is the best i can do..)

I RECOMMEND YOU USE THE GAMETYPE.

Instructions
Step 1
First, in the game (as host) press esc, then go to game options, then go to New Game, click Blood Gulch as the map. Now, this next part is very important. Press the arrows keys or move the cursor onto "Slayer" or "CTF" game type (If you did Slayer, your main folder will be 26, if CTF, your main folder will be 32). But DO NOT press OK, and do not make the Slayer/CTF game start in any way. (Just make sure the word "Slayer" or "CTF" shows in white letters.)

Step 2
We will be using CTF as our substitute for this guide. Tab out of Halo Demo (while cursor is still on "CTF") and go to your documents folder. Open the "Halo Demo" Folder, then the "saved" folder, then the "playlists" folder, and then the "default_playlist" folder. (The file path is ./Documents/Halo Demo/saved/playlists/default_playlist) At this point you should see a bunch of folders with numbers.

Step 3
Create a folder on your desktop and call it "Original CTF". (The new folder name is not crucial.) Go to folder number 32. This is the CTF game type folder. The main folder we will use. Take the blam.lst file copy it (Cmd + C), and paste it (Cmd + V) in the new folder you made on the desktop called "Original CTF". Throw the blam.lst in folder 32 into the trash. Folder 32 should now be empty.

Now, at this time you would go to the folder containing the game type you want. For this guide we will use Oddball, which is in folder 27. (See game type list above to know what game types are in which folder.)

Step 4
Go to folder 27. Copy the blam.lst file in there and paste it into folder number 32. Go back to folder 27 and throw the blam.lst that is in there into the trash.

Step 5
Now, assuming you followed this guide correctly and did not make any mistakes, close the window with the folder numbers. (It is a good idea to add the folder "default_playlist" onto your sidebar.)

Step 6
Go back into halo demo and click once or twice on the word "CTF". If the voice says "Game over" (if you did this while the game was already hosted) then so far this is a good sign. After you start the game from the carnage report or you just created a game, if the game starts as "oddball", congratulations. If not, then you need to review this guide and try once more.

If you feel that you have lost track of some of the blam.lst files, misplaced them, or something isn't working right and you want to make sure all the files are in the right number folder, you can download our default_playlist folder which includes all of the original gametypes in the correct folderes. Simply replace your old default_playlist folder with the new one you download. This will not affect profiles, accounts or any other personal settings.

default_playlist.zip
No Pictures cause it's just banshees everywhere.

I have a mod like this... I just never released it because I'd get my rear flamed off.

It's not that bad... If you like Banshees, it's fun. Even better, this way, there's plenty to go around.

Also, if you lose track of Halo's gametypes, you don't have to replace them, when you reboot Halo Demo, they are reset.

If you want to have banshees, hex the cyborg to a banshee then change collision models to cyborg then add the effect of exploding after you run out of health.

Ooo!! Oooo! I know! I know! Pick me! Pick me! :D

1. Go to the bipd tag. Pick the cyborg_mp tag.
2. Go to More Flags in the 32-bit Bitmasks.
3. Flip the bit labeled "Flying".
4. Now go to Floating Point Numbers.
5. Turn up the Acceleration and Max Velocity.

There might be others, but I can't remember them off the top of my head without opening Eschaton and looking. Anyways, the downside to this is that when you are not in motion, you will be floating in spot rather than falling downwards. I haven't had the time to test it out.
