Also, saying this was first is WRONG.

Taxi's then mine was next (unreleased). Hell, Kayar's worked half the time in that one mod. It slips my mind, sorry Kayar.
Firstly, I cannot comment upon maps that haven't been published.
Secondly, to clarify, this is the only published map that I've seen that has machine tags that consistently work all the time as they are intended to work as machine tags.

Copacetic?

Seafire wrote:Custom SCNR is CE. It's been doable to years. And on Mac that's cool, but it's nothing new IMO.
Seafire, in making this scnr workable on Halo Demo, I've had to do several revisions more than the standard. It was to avoid something like this: "oh this map has mach tags that will work in CE... but wait a minute, now, why can't I add more mach tags in Halo Demo... Sparky, why did you release this if you can only get two mach tags to work in the scnr, this is a waste of my time. And what's the deal with those other references and that extra ustr that was part of a custom script you made, don't you know scripts are removed when you convert the map to demo. And wtf man, mach tags are stupid in bloodgulch, the whole map is open. You should import another bsp that actually has places where you can add mach tags. Ah, I see you released a revision now, but wtf man, this is just as useless as the other one. I NEVER REALIZED HOW HARD IT WAS TO GET MACHINE TAGS TO WORK DUE TO THE LIMITED SUPPORT FOR SAID TAGS IN ESCHATON. IT'S NO WONDER THAT OTHER MAPS WITH WORKING MACH TAGS EITHER USED SCRIPTS OR WERE UNRELIABLE. GOOD JOB AND THANK YOU, SPARKY!"

No. Instead, I release two versions, the second having a simple fix to a small last-minute swap that caused the first release to crash. So basically one release after a full day of work with all the features AND extra tags included, all with the promise and intention for further modding on the part of everyone here at MGM with very minimal effort into something potentially amazing.

Go ahead, sue me for using a BSP that I didn't make. WTF ever. If you don't want this resource, then don't use it and get out. Nobody is forcing you to take the food I made you from my hands. Any further bitching will result in me ignoring said bitchers.

In terms of laws that by coincidence work with CE/Demo... You cannot distribute original full content unless it is modded in some way or another (due to the fact it is copyrighted by Bungie), and having CE content in demo without owning the full game is illegal (because you do not have rights to full content, you haven't bought the game).
This was quoted by Seafire in the Halo section. I may be interpreting this wrong but the map Sparky released was "modded in some way or another". Now, Seafire could be wrong right? But no one in the forum corrected him, therefore, we can assume that Sparky hasn't done anything wrong. Now, of course, I may be wrong.

Sparky, I really liked the map and those mach tags were kickass! :D

Well, Bungie hasn't made a statement either way. My hunch is that they want us to continue playing their games.

There seems to be a 50-50 mix of regular unmodded games and modded games on the Halo Demo Gamespy servers. Most people will join a room that says it is modded, usually encountering a non-CSS mod and playing or leaving. We should keep promoting the idea of CSS vs. non-CSS and keep telling people to get their mods at mods.halodemo.net.

I think that if we judge any modding as legal or illegal, we'd have to say that CSS mods are the most legal while complete Full multiplayer map conversions are the least legal. All others fall somewhere in between.

Nobody is doing a mere conversion of a full multiplayer map and releasing it. We might use some tags from full map (which just so happen to be used in Halo CE maps also), but the maps themselves are still unique to the Halo Full game.

I'd say that the creation of a free version of Halo CE is a clear statement that these game authors want their community members to be able to mod and create new content for the game. So here we are, the community members, modding and making content for the game!

But seriously, everything we do here is illegal. Wanna turn it into a legal battle? I think not.

If you were a lawyer, I might appreciate what you had to say. I am not a lawyer, so I stand by the logic that all modding is illegal as it is "MODIFYING IN WHOLE OR IN PART" the software.

You have a point and so do I, and until a real lawyer or attorney advises us, this is a moot point, one that will not resolve. Even if we suddenly delete all non-CSS mods, like i said, it's still against the terms of use for the game.

I've made myself clear, if you want to discuss this further, go dig up the topic from months ago on legal issues or make another by yourself.

aw QQ

are we upset because the old time modders don't approve? Conure was right when he said that QAR would be the downfall of modding the demo because people would not be able to be arsed to make actual mods but convert shit instead.

ps: I am also touched to learn that you find me so irritating that you have to block me.

Yeah, Dirk is right, QAR and eventually Pearl is the downfall of Halo modding....

But then again we wouldn't have all the awesome scenery to make maps..

Yeah, i was going to say i also used it to contribute to the downfall of modding, but then i remembered where my alliances were and didn't use CE anymore (cept scenery)

Mota's Tag Pack wasn't made using QAR or Pearl.
