It had a error twice decompressing it. Can you post a uncompressed version?

No idiot, compressing it doesn't reduce the filesize by half. It's 593MB or so. =_=

ZIP file compression is not linear. Lossless compression algorithms always have a minimum size they can compress to for any given input due to the nature of data itself. Try zipping a zip file for instance.

huh? You talk funny lol. "the quantum mechanical particles with the omega 3 virus has a x-t4 algorithm that makes zip files unzip-able.

Your definitely a genius. Can you make me a new computer that is ultra fast plz. Oh yeah and include a 1000 tera Byte Hardrive too. make it resemble the UI of a mac. Thnx in advanced.

So I basically tried to upload it, then gave up 3 times. I'll upload it after I do a quick fix on HDM so that the wiki and mail system work again. THEN I'll start uploading the file - and yes, it's almost a gig in size, copressed down to around 500 MB, an approximate 2:1 ratio.

Sorry about all the frustration. Let's see... it's Sunday. HDM should be up by Monday morning. INCY volume 2.1 should be up by Tuesday morning. How's that?

Spark, stop typing walls of text. You're making me embarrass myself. <_>

Now watch this. I will restore my awesomeness with bizarre arguments I pull out of my ass (note: I'm typing this in the toilet, just because I like to)

Okay, misconception. I missed that part:
Sparky wrote:900-meg file
But I saw this part:
Sparky wrote:~ Volume 2.1: Halo CE | 592.7 MB { bitm eqip flag lsnd scen sky snd! weap vehi } (10,560 tags as of August 26, 2009)
And when attempts at downloading proved the filesize was 490+MB, I assumed 593MB as the uncompressed size.
Moving on, compressing does not reduce filesize by half:
SL-Baloer wrote:just now i tried compress my 100MB mod and it became 49MB

100 divided by 49: 2.04081633

Why is my Blood Gulch 13.9MB? Anyway..

13.8 divided by 5.4: 2.555555556

And lastly:

593 multiplied by 2: 1186

And as a matter of fact, compressing various mods has repeatedly proved that compressing does not reduce the filesize by..exactly half. For the smaller ones (around 40MB?) yes, around half, but bigger sizes less. Somewhat.

I now proclaim a new form of internet language: leeterspeak.

But whatever, right?

why not try divide map by the tags in it. so like
1 map for weap tag and another for bipd and yet another for vehi and stuff

Thanks for the idea. That already ran through my mind. The problem would be that tags reference each other, so for example, vehicles also have weapons, and actv have a whole host of associated tags. You can see how long it takes to recursively extract an actv or bipd, because they also have associated sounds. There would be some overlapping, which wouldn't be ideal when you're trying to create a comprehensive index of all the known released tags.

EDIT: The CE version is segregated by tag type, but I divided it this way so that there will only be two versions of the CE release: 2.1 and 2.2. It's only a temporary situation, anyway, since the INCY will eventually be accessible online, and there won't be any duplicates... there are even duplicates in 2.1, but they're kindof easy to spot. I tried to be as inclusive as possible, and several authors had redundant folders, like:

scenery\base1\base.scenery
and
scenery\base1\base1\base.scenery

I included both of these tags, for example. (This is a facsimile/fake example.)

Alright, so here's the deal:

I'm splitting this huge file into 12 parts using split & concat. I need someone with a fast internet connection to concat the files and upload the large 592 MB file to HDM, please. Please volunteer, so we don't have multiple people doing this.

Everyone else can just DL the parts or wait for this volunteer to upload the concatenated .zip file.

If you are the volunteer, I ask that you name the wiki file Incyclopedia 2-1. One of us will then add that link to the Incyclopedia entry on the Tools page.

Thanks in advance. Links to split files forthcoming.
