[MOD] Aquarius (alpha)

Post by Sparky » Thu May 21, 2009 2:29 am

The theme is Atlantis. Each team has taken to creating its own ocean fortress. What are the results of their efforts?

Everything is pretty much set up, I just need to add more base stuff to the scenario. And modding the scnr of the Island takes a heck of a long time :cry:

Download coming in beta release. Cool theme music ;)

EDIT:
  • CREDITS
  • Sword, for his Island Mod and SwordEdit. Also thanks to the person who made the modded version of SwordEdit.
  • Neko-chan, for (at least) linking us to the Not-Rebuilt Island
  • Various CE modders, for their scenery and weapon tags
  • Moxus, for making Crossing, from which I attained some tags and ideas for the scenario
  • Altimit01, for making Eschaton 0.7.2 and 0.7.3
  • and special credit goes to everyone here at MGM; you are all awesome!

Good work. Keep it up. :D
The armaments which thunderstrike the walls
And monarchs tremble in their capitals.
The oak leviathans, whose huge ribs make
Of lord of thee, and arbiter of war;
Alike the Armada's pride, or spoils of Trafalgar.

Since you mentioned it twice, I suppose I should explain my stalling:

I envision Galaxy Wars as being so epic that it uses certain things I currently need to further research, like machine tags, bsp structures, model detail levels, and scripts. Related projects include the Incyclopedia, from which I will use resources that are most suitable (all customized decals, weapons, vehicles, bipeds, scenery, effects, etc.). The last things I developed as part of GW were the light sabers and Jedi Force powers.

Since then, I've decided to branch off of those ideas by making my own recreation of the Jedi Knight II game using our modding techniques. Essentially, this would be a rip from that game, and such an idea is pretty much flat-out illegal. So I'll keep that kind of on the "down low" and of course credit the related tags with "Raven Software" in their path names. But of course such modding requires a lot of time, and I don't intend to recreate the game, itself -- only to use certain weapons... sorry for the tangent.

So, anyway, Galaxy Wars is going to use the light sabers I end up with and also the same or similar Jedi Force powers. All these tag additions would be published in the Incyclopedia, of course, so they are free to use by anyone else.

Since GW is a bit too amazing for my current knowledge, it'll have to wait until I can ensure that it achieves my standards, making it really amazing and really playable at the same time ;)

:idea: That said, perhaps later this summer I'll release a test version.

My only thoughts, based on the screenshots, Wouldn't the map be a bit too big?
Looks nice though, keep it up.

My thoughts, exactly.
Size can be diminished by teleporters or moving platforms (animated scenery), adding more sniping weapons, fast vehicles (with limits, like a ceiling limit and no guns), or just by making what's there look really awesome so that people look around more than fight :lol:

I used the Not-Rebuilt Island in Eschaton, imported things and rebuilt it therein, then opened it with SwordEdit ;). The regular Island mod doesn't let Eschaton rebuild - it just corrupts the map so it's unusable (except by Eschaton) after rebuilding it (for what would be the second time). HHK's rebuilding corrupted maps, as Alt said.

Smart... Actuary more like pure genius.
When does this beauty come out?
The armaments which thunderstrike the walls
And monarchs tremble in their capitals.
The oak leviathans, whose huge ribs make
Of lord of thee, and arbiter of war;
Alike the Armada's pride, or spoils of Trafalgar.

Vaguely reminds me of Pirates of the Caribbean with the underwater Pirates, because the spartans have to go through the water and emerge on land an battle
