Phantom (Beta - 3)

Post by 002 » Thu Aug 08, 2013 7:51 pm

Phantom is a program made to quickly remove protections from maps. Its features are: Image

As I said, this program is not 100% finished yet. It's got some more things to fix:
  • Reflexives.
  • Batch unprotection.
  • Support for Z-Team and Illusion deprotection.
  • Memory leaks/stability issues (if present)
  • Byte-for-byte deprotection; Most precision, least speed. Will be optional.
  • Support for bitmaps and sound tags.
  • [strike]Make window look better.[/strike] ✓
The program is limited to the Incyclopedia data. It will not reveal CE rip tag names. Tags it cannot find are renamed to "custom\unknown_<tag#>"

System Requirements: OS X 10.6 or higher.

An example map I will be using is The Shaft, which can be found off of HaloMD. This is a KW map, so map protection was put in place so people could not modify the map to get an unfair advantage.

Original Version (from HaloMD): http://halomd.macgamingmods.com/mods/shaftkw_1.zip
Unprotected Version: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/302 ... tected.zip
Debug: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/302 ... _debug.png

Edit: On a side note, I've uploaded Beta 2 which greatly improves tag deprotection efficiency.
Edit: Uploaded Beta 3. Changes include:
  • Simpler, better UI.
  • Faster deprotection.
  • Quits when closed.

I hate triple posting more than double posting, but there isn't a lot of activity going on in this forum, so bump I do.

I'm working on a tag searching function (for last-resort or for CE tags), and everything is going on smoothly.

Step 1: Open your map. (I'll be doing Headlong)

Step 2: Select Tag Search. In the following dialog, choose the tag class, then choose constraints. Click "Search" when finished.

Step 3: Rename matching tag to make it identifiable in Eschaton and click "Save Tag Names".

Step 4: Open in Eschaton. Make a slight tweak if there is a duplicate tag, then check if it's the right tag by looking out for the tweak in Halo.

Suggestion: you could remove the Debug option in the window and have a Debug window accessible from the menu like in my old memory modding template.

Although you may be changing UI anyway..
I am no longer active to Halo or MGM, and don't guarantee a response on the forums or through email. I will however linger around the discord room for general chatting. It's been fun!

I removed the debug function altogether, already. Since it's instantaneous deprotection, there's also no more need for a progress bar. I've totally remodeled the UI.

I haven't downloaded anything yet to try it, but I have an idea for you:

- add a "Batch" button that lets you unprotect multiple map files at once, selecting multiple files in the open dialog window
Either you are groping for answers, or you are asking God and listening to Jesus.
