Fire Dragon [Alpha b13]

Post by 002 » Wed Nov 02, 2016 8:41 am

This program is a map editor that supports a variety of features:
  • Tag editing
  • Tag importation
  • Tag duplication
  • Tag deletion
  • Tag renaming
  • Map renaming
  • Map metadata viewing (map build, tag count, data size, SBSP size, model size, internalized bitmap size, internalized sound size, and estimated file size when saved)
  • Map conversion from Custom Edition to HaloMD / Halo PC without a maps folder
  • Supports HaloMD, Halo PC, and Halo Custom Edition maps
So how is this different from Eschaton? This tag editor supports adding, cloning, and deleting reflexives. The opening and rebuilding process is unparalleled and happens in under a few seconds for even the biggest of maps, as well. Also, it can convert Custom Edition maps to the HaloMD or Halo PC format. Lastly, you can rename your map's internal names.

It does use Eschaton plugins (Sparky's plugins by default), so if you want to tinker with those, right-click the program in Finder, Show Package Contents, Contents, Resources. You'll find the plugins folder as well as template.map (MD's bloodgulch.map).

Like any other tool, make sure to back your maps up before touching this program in case things go wrong.

The dropbox link doesn't seem to work for me? Getting a 404 error.

Fire Dragon has been updated. These are the changes:
  • Added support for Custom Edition maps (Experimental)
  • Map game and type are now displayed
  • Maps can be converted from Halo Custom Edition to HaloMD / Halo PC, and unlike Pearl, you do not need a maps folder. (Experimental)
  • The effect tag plugin has been updated to support changing Part types
Additionally, b6 now allows for single player and ui maps to be converted from Custom Edition to HaloMD.

Alpha build 8 has been released. This isn't going to feature any noticeable changes, but it'll probably be slightly more efficient in some way somehow.
  • Now using version 1.15 of the Rust programming language.
  • If the Tritium library panics, an error message will be displayed rather than randomly crashing, though the application will still have to close.

Alpha build 10 has been released. Here are the changes:
  • A dependency swapper has been added. You can use this feature to quickly swap dependencies or go to tags by double clicking on them. This swapper will show nulled out references, but it will not show predicted resources.
  • Importing or duplicating a tag will automatically select the new tag.
  • Importing, deleting, duplicating a tag, and CE conversions no longer automatically scroll the tag list to the top, and the tag classes remain open.
  • Renaming a tag will correctly order the tag alphabetically.
  • Fixed a bug where renaming a tag would deadlock the application if a save dialog immediately appears.

Alpha build 12 has been released. It fixes an issue with importing tags into campaign maps where cutscenes would break as well as a bug where duplicating bitmaps and sounds tags wouldn't work properly.

Alpha build 13 addresses a big where changing the map name or build did not immediately update the map file changes.

Hi,

I'm getting a

Code: Select all

Map meta sizes are not identical
in Terminal when I use gdonut to generate a script from tweaks done in Fire Dragon to weapon ranges and aim assist values.

gdonut was previously working fine with tweaks done in Eschaton, but the latest version of High Sierra has finally broken Eschaton.

Any advice on how to avoid this error would be really helpful thanks.

Sounds like the size reported in the map's header is different from some calculated check.
