Ok, that one goes too far. They literally ripped the textures from Minecraft. I figure we will see retaliatory action from Mojang on this one. They can't go after other games that use the same mine/craft/explore/block gameplay, but this one uses their own property. By the looks of it, the sounds were also ripped directly from Minecraft. You just can't do that. If everything had been different, fine. The idea is unoriginal, but the content in itself at least is. This one just has "SUE ME" written all over it.

The thing is, they didn't. They have similar but still unique textures, I will not pay 99 cents to find out but I assume the same thing applies to the sounds. As for game play, as long as they don't specifically call any of the monsters a minecraft coined name, they are golden. Morally I agree with you, legally there's no issue as far as I can tell.

Well, look at the pictures. 16x16 images are pretty easy to compare.

Well, this is a problem with some of the laws, isnt it. You can technically make something unique by changing a pixel. Like this:

"Hey guys, look what I made. It's totally unique and whatnot."
Image

Just go look at the TNT and bookcase. Perhaps there is a single color changed on the bookcase, but I see no difference on the TNT. And yes, the colors on the tools are more solid, but the pixels appear to be the same. Also, if you don't think they were ripped, think about this: Why use isometric icons for a game set in a 2D environment. It makes sense in Minecraft, it does not in Crafted. That obviously isn't enough evidence, but the fact that the textures are that close is. At least other Minecraft clones tried to be original in looks (and some even in gameplay). But this argument is pretty moot considering Mojang is developing for mobile anyway.

BTW. Saving the world. With a Rock Anthem. Hell yeah. Go go epic guitar solo!

In a 16 by 16 image, changing 16 pixels means a forth of the product is new.

Er... No. In a 4x4 image changing 4 pixels makes it 1/4 new. You mean a 16 pixel image.

For a 16x16 image you need 64 new pixels.

But speaking of 4x4 pixel images, I have been working on a few texture packs for Minecraft. I keep seeing the "HD" packs that bring it up to 32x32, 64x64, and maybe even 128x128. So I said "screw that, I don't need more pixels, I need less!"

And now I'm going to work on everything down from there: 8x8, 4x4, 2x2, 1x1. Yes... 1x1. In fact, that one is mostly done. It's surprisingly hard to choose colors that show what the block type is and yet are still one solid color. But also surprisingly, it doesn't look all that bad. How weird is that? The blocks still remaining are mostly the new ones that aren't just a complete block like the cauldron, crafting table and potion stand. And I will probably ignore mobs, armor, etc. Just blocks, particles, and environment.

Also, Halo Theme Mjolnir Mix. Hells yeah.

Best opinion I have heard all day. I don't play games on my iPod anymore, despite having 150+, and I already have Minecraft and Terraria. Done and done.

In response to the original question about our thoughts on this: "Sue 'em Mojang, not original, couldn't care less". I think that sums it up.

This is how I taste test apps.

1. Buy app
2. Get refund from Apple Support
3. Continue playing app
4. ???
5. NON PROFIT ORGANIZATION

I enjoy the app, still, aside from the pointless crosshair and the block targetting system. I play it every 2 weeks...¬_¬
