Tim O' Brien writes some really excellent war books. But there more than just war stories they have meaning and purpose to them. Ive read one of his books called The things they Carried and im starting on Going After Cacciato. Theyre really good books that i would recommend to anyone. They take place in the Vietnam War. This makes it realistic because tim o brien was an actuall foot soldier in this war.

I'll reco O'Brien's books too. Vivid. Visceral. Emotive. Captivating. Get *any* of his books. The two mentioned above are good to start with. You won't be able to put them down. I'm not a literary critic but I think they'd be well received here. I really felt like I was the character(s) in his books.
