Re: Building PC
DDR was beaten down by guitar hero ages ago.
The armaments which thunderstrike the walls
And monarchs tremble in their capitals.
The oak leviathans, whose huge ribs make
Of lord of thee, and arbiter of war;
Alike the Armada's pride, or spoils of Trafalgar.

Re: Building PC
I might post something about DDR. I was going to build a comp a while ago (yes... a PC), and spent a long time trying to find a good amount of power for a low price. After that I decided to go for one of the Macs (then they got updated!) because of CrossOver games. It plays they few games I want it to play, and most of the other stuff I want to use my Mac for requires no special software (except maybe Final Cut Pro...). Anyway, I have the decision of a cheaper White Plastic Mac, with less speed and DDR2 RAM. Or the MBP Unibody with 2.26Ghz with DDR3. I researched a bunch and found some info. Apperently, there is no real difference between DDR2 or DDR3 UNLESS it is running at over 1000Mhz. Which is good, because the new MBP's fit that.
Anyway... Just saying. DDR3 is good over 1000Mhz. Thats what I found, anyway.
Also, RB>GH>DDR

When I got my Macbook, it was second or third on the line. But then the MBPs got upgraded like crazy, then the Air came out, and this thing was left in the dust in terms of laptop. And now the performance gap between the MB and MBP is closing like crazy.Hostbot wrote:It seems technology gets old fast. I remember when for a birthday in 98, my parents bought me an emate, to learn to type. That thing had a keyboard, a monochrome display, 1 MB of RAM, 2 MB of storage, and could barely access the internet. My dad had it work with teh e-mail though.

Re: Building PC
G'damnit, spelling mistake.
My $0.02- DDR3 might be kinda overkill now, but if you can afford it, do it. Computers evolve faster than you can believe, but it often takes a while for software to take advantage of new hardware. So, when you buy new hardware even if nothing you want to do needs it, it is called future-proofing. Basically, you are making sure that when new games and apps come along that do take advantage of DDR3, you will be ready. In fact, you might end up saving money because you will avoid buying your RAM/motherboard twice. So if you can, do it.

Re: Building PC
Or just get Win 7 RC now and upgrade later. And since the RC of Windows 7, why aren't we all using bootcamp?
