inafter kayar listing all the game companies
Re: 30 days of Gaming
27 -- DICE, Valve, Gearbox, Mojang, Rocksteady, Splash Damage, Bioware, and IW on occassion.
I don't think that I can like Bethesda when they insist that they can release a game with little testing, and then use the excuse of patching the fuck ton of bugs "later."

28: captain obvious here, Bungie!
Just because they're fans of their own games, yaknow? They make new shit because they want to play new shit.

Day 29: Oblivion.
Believe it or not, when I first played Oblivion, I hated it. The hype surrounding it put me off from it, everyone I knew held it up as if it were some kind of god. The combat felt sloppy to me, I felt like I was waving large pieces of sausage at my enemies every time I tried using a sword, it didn't feel elegant at all. I was also new the the whole "encumbrance" thing. I felt like if I can pick something up, I should just pick it up, no penalties. It seemed to me that I had infinite inventory space, so why not? Then there were the AI- all those voice actors. All freaking 7 of them, saying the same stupid things over and over again. I wanted to kill every NPC I met in the game, just so I wouldn't hear them talk to themselves anymore. So, after like an hour of playing it at my friend's house, during which I focused only on the main mission (because that's what I was used to doing, I wasn't used to billions of side quests) I left his house and never played Oblivion again, or so I thought...
And then I played Fallout 3. And I really enjoyed Fallout 3. Quite a bit, actually. Fallout 3 taught me to steal everything that wasn't bolted down, and sell everything you couldn't carry. Fallout 3 taught me how to play a game in the same style as Oblivion, without all the sausage-waving. I mean, I ended up using melee weapons quite a bit in Fallout 3, the sledgehammer was my best and only friend for a while. V.A.T.S. made it feel like I was no longer waving a sausage around. So when I finally went back to Oblivion like a year later, having been roped into it by my girlfriend, well... I got hooked on it. Too bad it's her game, I still haven't even finished it yet...

Re: 30 days of Gaming
This. I knew what I was getting into, but I only actually gave a shit about Oblivion after I played Fallout. Before I just considered it another RPG, but then when I actually played it I couldn't stop. I've only just taken a break so that I can give my PC some love, and I can count how many main quests I've done on my left hand.Kayar wrote:Day 29: Oblivion.
But other than that, I'd say Read Dead. I walked into the store planning on buying something else (can't remember, maybe SC Conviction) on RDR's release, and then decided to fuck it and take the twenty extra dollars of quarters that I had to pay the extra cost for a new release. I had never read or listned to any of the news, and I usually only buy games that I know I'd love beforehand. So this was a pleasant break from the usual.
Woo run-ons.

Day 27 –
Day 28 – Valve, Nintendo, Fractional Games.
Day 29 – StarFox Adventures. (So it's a tad lame on dialogue sometimes, I actually enjoyed the gameplay.)
Day 30 – Pokemon White Version.

Re: 30 days of Gaming
Day 28 – It's a toss up between Valve and Bungie, in a list of 5, i'd have to go
1: Bungie (Fans of their own games, community players, and you're never disappointed with their service.)
2: Valve (Ok, so they have their shortcomings.... ok they have a few.... ok i can give you a list, but it'll be delayed for a while)
3: Ensemble (i was all like "nooooooooooooooooooooooo" when they shut down :C)
4: Mojang (who doesn't like a company started by a fat swedish guy in a hat!)
5: uhhh......... i'll say.... Valve again.
Day 29 – Any CoD games, at first i was all "HURR DURR REALIZM+GAME=BAD" but then i was all like "huh... this isn't all that realistic, so it's really just fun!
Day 30 – Zelda: Ocarina of Time. if there was a way to tell how many hours i'd spent in that game, it'd be triple figures easily.
