smcFanControl and computer heat!

Hey, it's summer here in the northern hemisphere and the weather is getting pretty hot here where i live. Therefore my MacBook is getting as hot as a stove for both the external temperature and all the shit that i run on it. (namely team fortress two, that i currently start up when i want to make myself a couple of eggs)

So i asked google for some cooling methods and it returned me this app (along with informations about cool as fuck machines with water tubes going trough them as if we were in the industrial revolution epoch o_o). I remember hearing of this app many times before i even had a macbook and now i am trying to use it!

The reason for this topic to exist is: have any of you used this application before? Are there limits about how much i can push my fans' rpm? Any [contraindication]* that you know/can think of?

*translator note: synonym with snag, downside, catch, problem, trouble, deterrent.

PS: thanks to that picture i now want to study engineering (even more than i wanted before).

No, but I would like to have a way to do that with my macbook, it gets shit hot chronically this time of year. Especially running ANY large apps, since the thing is souped to shit.

YES. 0_0 (i like cold weather and think will like new zealand)

Anyway, bunneh, a human will never be able to be truly ‘happy’ as long as it desires to be.

LOL PC ELITISM!!11!11!!!

Either way I can't help you. But I can tell you that you should give your Macbook plenty of air, open windows if it's windy, and keep your computer as close to air conditioning as possible.

I think that the hottest my computer ever got to was 40 something Celsius. It gets pretty damn humid in the midwest, so I'm happy (with my computer, not the goddamn weather).

Lol, my computer reached at least 71 centigrade degrees yesterday. o_o (surely even much more, but i don't have a clear memory of it and would not want to say something false!)

Right now the sensors' result oscillates between 49°C and 51°C, and i am lying on a bed doing nothing!

If you're using your computer on your bed, you're most likely not helping its heat problems.

Yeah i know. I don't usually use the laptop on a bed though. In fact i think that was the first time i used it on a bed since i got it? wow!

Anyway blargh, i hoped in a more helpful reply by you nil. ;_; We could say i posted the thread just to read your response.
