Basically, this:

Go read the article, come back here. If you have not yet understood what just happened, then this next link may clear it up just a little bit better.

So yeah. Britain decides to hold a contest for a new flag, and they get the best damn flag ever. And they don't use it. The design is from an anime called Gurren Lagann, a show that is epic enough to require a new word for it's level of epicness. And in the dictionary the word's definition would just say "See Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann"
If you can't tell, I'm a pretty big fan... Anyway, for whatever reason I was scanning the wiki page, and down at the bottom there was the little paragraph about Popular Culture.
That last part got my attention, and so I hunted the story down. So yeah. Here it is.Wikipedia wrote:"Influences from and references to Gurren Lagann can be found in several areas of recent popular culture, ranging from Japanese anime and video games, to American comics and animation, to politics in Europe."
So I guess part of the reason for the post is to simply share what I thought was interesting, part is to just see what your opinion is, and also to tell you if you have any interest in Anime or animated shows of this type, go watch it now. It's all on youtube, in English (not to fret, the dub is really good). I'm pretty sure subs are on youtube as well, but not by the official company. Also, go find the director's cut of episode 6. The TV version was just one of those recap episodes where they flashback to save time and money. Oddly enough, the director's cut is english only.
