Any video converter you recommended?

Ok I have a bunch of video and I want to put them in MP4 (or any kind)
Is there any converter can do the lighting of glimpse like an "MPEG Streamclip" without killing my ram memory?
(I have total issue to put a plurals (s) in my sentence, not quite lol :V )
