Athena Sword

What would it require to port Athena Sword into a Mac-friendly game? It looks slightly simpler than the Island Thunder Project (file names and such) but I remember problems with certain texture blendings or whatever. Any word on it? I know Athena Sword just came out for PC but why wait for it to come to Mac only to see it become another pipe dream?

Like I said its early but It doesn't look all that difficult (compared to Island Thunder, once again).

Just putting it out on the board for everyone else =)

Athena Sword will be different than Island Thunder. In Ghost Recon both the Mac and PC versions were the same, but in Raven Shield the Mac version is not the same as the PC version. I think Athena Sword will not be able to be completely used by the Mac. Athena Sword adds a Mods folder to RvS and changes the version to work with the new folder. Until I can get a copy of Athena Sword I cannot be sure exactly what can be converted to the Mac.

Hadn't thought of that. Maybe modding one of the system files would allow for a mod folder but I wouldn't know. Let me know what you find when you get Athena Sword. Aspyr or not I'm not planning on missing this one. lol all I gotta do is figure out how Ima do that now....

Athena Shield Is a application. Via no mod over can be done.

You mean that it is an application completely separate to Raven Shield?

Thats odd I've never heard of that before in an expasion pack.

Its almost like they're trying to kill off Mac games... d@mn

Athena Sword is seperate but it is not a stand-alone game. Athena Sword still needs Raven Shield to run.

I'm assuming its similar to other games where you get to choose to play Athena Sword or the original game at the start of the game.

Wouldn't it just be possible to post the maps online as mods so Mac users could still play them?

Ubisoft would get after me if the Athena Sword maps worked and I posted them. They went after Mauti for making a patch for Island Thunder to work better on a Mac. They thought he was giving Island Thunder away. Shows how much they actually look into things before they go after someone.

Sooo....
I wonder if emailing Aspyr telling them of the great interest in Athena Sword for Mac would do any good. Not that that statement could be backed because as I look at this forum I've seen I think 4 or 5 users in the Raven Shield section and thats about it...

I would be very suprised if the Athena Sword was released for Mac. There was a huge interest in Island Thunder and they didn't release it for Mac. The reason there isn't alot of people on this forum is that the bulk of the Mac RS, GhR, and RvS people are on the *DAMN forum.
