To get them back to .iwd you can just change the extension. It always works for me. A window will probably come up after you make the change asking if you would like to change the extension to .iwd, click yes.

The changes will only work if you are hosting. You can't make the changes and have them work in a server you are not hosting.

i changed the extension to .iwd and it added .zip to the end
the only time the window came up was when i changed it to .zip

You can try changing the extension with Get Info. In the Name & Extension area, you can change it.

Ok so i unzip it and then it shows a bunch of .cfg files. HOW DO I EDIT THEM?

You can open the cfg files with a text editor. After you finish all your modifications, you can rezip the folder and rename it to its original name.

After I put them all back into place and rename the files, I still get the error message "cannot load $default

Make sure you keep the same file structure of the newly rezipped file as the original file had. Some programs when you unzip a file the file is expanded into a folder that was not there originally.
