error in modding

when i try to play the mod the game quits and says: error during instalization
coudn't load material '$defualt' what the hell does this mean.

You have to recheck what you modded. You probably changed or removed something that should not have been changed or removed.

Yeah i had the exact same problem. when i tried to change the ammo count and rate of fire for the thompson or what ever i unzipped the file, changed the stuff, and rezipped it and changed it back to .iwd. When i started up the game it said that $default thing. I kept on trying to figure out whats wrong thx
