Spore 1.1 update: anyone able to install it?

I just got Spore and tried to update it to version 1.1, which enables the new cheats and fixes some minor bugs. But when I downloaded the update from EA, and selected the Spore app icon, the patch said it couldn't be used with the current version. Anyone ever been able to get it to work? Thanks

Thank god I will soon be able to dump all the guys that dont support both sides fairly, and work with Valve and Blizzard. I like them, so long as Valve makes sure we can use mods, Gmod, and all the other custom goodies (Hammer and tools, amirite?) that come with their games. Otherwise why bother. Ill just get it on the xbox...
