Changing Weather AND FF80 in same COOP gametype?

Post by [BIG] Ranger » Mon Apr 25, 2005 8:56 am

Always looking for new COOP challenges - and what I think would be great is a combination of Changing weather AND FF50/60/70/80 in the same mod.

Would just make the last bit a little harder (as the snow cover blankets out everything)...

What do you think?

weather

Post by Doc Froyla » Mon Apr 25, 2005 10:15 am

Yeah I really like it when the weather changes.....
it adds a touch of reality....and I love the new
firefights esp w/100 enemy.

I notice it crashes on some older maps.....
does there have to be 100 points listed
in the mission? Or does it clump guys
at available points until it reaches 100?

I'd like to change just a few things on the maps too.....
add my grafitti to the ruined city etc............my ruined
city Always has the grafitti the early gr guys
did (most notably a "bubblegum" mural
that shows up on several buildings........

I've been able to convert the rsb to a jpg
and adjust them, but have failed to be able
to convert them back to rsb with the mac.....
I think Tim said the transparency layer
is eliminated in a targe format.....but it
may have been one of the other guys.

Hey what's the sdk good for? I was
putzin around but i only found ways to
streamline existing stuff.....is there a
special use for sdk (available at mac.com)?
I was calling it x11, and you guys were right,
x11 helped not at all, actually.

The local game guys, ahem, and you know who they be.....
said change it to a psd document (photoshop) and
then work on it with maya (free download, grab the manual
if you do......pretty sure that's at maya.com or there's
a re-direct.

AS 2.0 rocks.

Ranger,
I could easily add the changing weather effect to the firefight gametypes I did. I will be pretty busy in the coming weeks but, after that I should be able to create the new gametypes.

Doc Froyla,
Since you are talking about FF100 and multiple maps I going to assume you are referring to the full version and not the demo. I didn't create the FF100 I think you are talking about the Alpha Squad gametype. I haven't looked at how they did their gametype compared to mined but they may of used other zones not found on some maps which could possibly cause a crash.

How did you convert the rsb to a jpg? I don't know of any direct way to do this on a Mac. It is really easy on a PC. Depending on your answer I will be able to guide you from there. 8) The Photoshop suggestion would depend on if you have a PC with PS or possibly your answer above.

I'm assuming the SDK you are talking about is the Apple one not a Ghost Recon one. I don't know of anything that SDK would be useful for when dealing with Ghost Recon. Maybe if you know C, C++, etc you could use the SDK to create a file editor to use instead of TextEdit or some other word processor when editing the weapon files.

Re: Weather & FF80

Many thanks again Monoman, you are an fantastic source of info.

About, FF100 - I remember some other guy making a 100 strong enemy (but -as you say - in teh full game)...I think it was a HX mission mod...

It was a real mess...Completely unplayable.

A lot of teh enemy were corrupt and showed up like black cut-out figures, and it always seemed to crash near the end.

80 is good enough, especially if you intend to play online with GameRanger.

What is far better than more enemy is for the enemy to turn up in unusual places or act differently to normal.

Thats what first caught me out about FF80 - the fact that some of the Tangos were behind teh house at the beginning, completely didn't expect that one! LOL

...Which is why I suggested the changing weather with FF80. Adds a bit of guess work to where the Tangos are when it's foggy/snowing! LOL

Yeah you're right, the Alpha Squad was installed
when it crashes on 100.......many enjoyable games since,
thanks.

Yeah i can't do windows they crash the computer right
away (several famous relatives who are well-hated).
I have four windows computers, won't do crap.
I did use a laptop to convert the rsbs but my photoshop
is mac. What a weird set of problems....

I wanted to do a clown mod where the shot guys won't
explode in clouds of colored dust...and where a clown car
would pull up and dispense 20 enemies............but with
a couple of years of frustration behind me i'd be happy seeing More
blood. I knew one of the BlackWater guys, and 2 of the astronauts.
and four of the journalists.........who died.

I DID manage to have a caravan of nazi troop carriers
pull up to the hotel....programming random map points
until it didn't crash anymore...and 12 dinosaurs (unreal)
jump out.....it only crashes if I try to escape down the
backstairs. I haven't guessed those map points yet....
to put a barrier next to the hotel in embassy map...
to block the stairs. ( I erased my crashed
helicopter because it caused me too much anxiety.......
they fly a chopper over Here every damn day......
as a job perk for moving to this Place. )

I Sure would like to see clowns flying through
the air after yaz shoots'em...could we decrease the
gravity for them in an explosion?

And I know All these
Hollywood people....they so vain.....we could do
Vanity Mods and charge like a thousand bucks to put
their characters into the game (as long as they had the
legal rights to use that character for personal use...but a lot
of the newer contracts Allow that....use to be they had to pay
a fifty buck fine if they did a voice for you......very much
fun..........but the older contract people can't do voices.
I met Andromeda dude and he said he doesn't care
what his people do.....but Xena couldn't do the scream....).
...and they use the same publicity company (sopranos too).

You can't adjust the gravity but you can adjust the blood. It seems like I remember some mod that had more blood.

You can find the coordinates by the stairs by using the "loc" code in the console during single player. If you don't want to do that I check out what the position is for you.

Oh thanks.......loc....what a relief........
trial and error is mostly error......i move a point
and see where the tanks drives to.....heh heh......

yeah my idea for the gravity is you can shoot the
guy and he'll fly into the air so you can shoot them again....
when i was first playing some dead guys would Revive....
I'm sure of it...........when i was playin with the famous dudes.....

My favorites were the guy who slinked around the ground in a
dark blur (was it the guy who did the chickenbombs?)
and twice I think i was invisible during a
capture the flag duel....cause I ran Right Up The Middle
(the theme for a new Centrist Political Party we're trying
to get off the ground with Existing Senators....to save
Fillerbustering and Advice & Consent...) and no one
shot me.

Yeah I liked that blood mod......more realistic, gawd.
Was that Enemy Realism? I'll have to check that.....
pretty sure it had realism in the title.
