Battlefield 1942 Serverside mods...

Hey monoman, I know that in the past you made serverside mods for BF1942 so I would like your advice on how I should go about making a serverside mod.

At the moment I have all the tools I need and have been messing around with the files (Yes, I have backed them up.) and I don't know if people can join my games...

The mods work, quite well actually. Its mainly ammo mods and things like that, just the basics but its really fun. Heh, I'm going to try and talk with DarkRaver about it tomorrow too.

Is there anything I have to keep in mind while making one? Like what to mod and what not to?

The main thing for serverside mods is do not add any new files not already installed. This would include textures and models. You can change spawn points, what is spawned, and weapons. You can change more than just that for serverside mods. Those were just what I could remember off-hand.

Yeah, I'm making a fun mod for the full version of Battlefield 1942.

Basicly I'm modding the objects.rfa, but so far you need the file to be able to play it.

Here is a short list of the things that come to mind that I've done so far:

Made the Sherman projectiles fully auto and increased their speed.
Increased the radius of explosion and damage made by bombs.
Increased plane firing rate of certain planes.
Added a scope (Either scope or binocular scope) To almost all guns.
Increased firing rates of most guns and made some automatic.
Made it so Sherman and willys' receive no damage from water.
Increased the amount, and damage, of the Exp Packs.
Increased the damage and throwing velocity of the Grenades.
Increased some vehicle's HP.
Increased player HP slightly.

And thats about where I stand. There are several other changes I've made, but I can't remember a lot.

At the moment I'm working on making vehicles faster and/or making them fly. What I think I might try is exchanging the physics and objects of the Willy with the Yak9 and see how it goes. It seems like it would be fun if it could work. I tried switching the physics alone last night but it didnt work.

Some of those things you can change in the maps themselves. Although if you want the changes to be for all maps then that wouldn't be the best idea. :lol:

Oh well, I'll do what I can and just keep experimenting. Its fun but annoying to have to spread the mods around via AIM or something.

When I have it finished (IE all the things I'm working on are done) I'll send it to you mono and see what you think, or have it posted here or something.

Heh, its just fun :D
