Re: How do i use Mota's tag pack??
Depends on your objective.
Generally, using CE imports is frowned upon in this community. However if you must, make sure you contact the original author and get his/her permission.
The tags in mota's pack, can be imported using the standard import technique, found in tutorials written all over the place.
Try reading the stickies, or the tutorials topic.
Some of the tags however, might be incomplete, corrupted, or just not there. o.o

Strange, no one has frowned upon me for using the tags in Mota's Tags Pack to make my scen-based maps.
Re: How do i use Mota's tag pack??
Because your maps are balanced, work well, and aren't a pile of CE retardation.
Also you keep the majority of the original weapons and vehicles, the scenery is the map not the game, If you see what I mean.

And monarchs tremble in their capitals.

Alike the Armada's pride, or spoils of Trafalgar.

^ See? Don't immediately assume the pack will be used for horrid CE-ripping ends. And thanks for the complements, Devious.
Now then. To use Mota's Tags Pack, you must follow the usual simple method of importation. Open your map in HHK after having demo hacked it. Then, choose "tools" and "import recursive." Select first the scen tag of the building you wish to import, click "okay," then select the folder the tags appear in. In Mota's Tags Pack, all of these folders are specifically labeled "Tags" I believe. Wait for importation to occur, then quit HHK. Open the map in HMT, go to mod2, find your building's mod2. Click "Inject," then choose the mod2.meta file for your building. If you are importing the "box_building," (Highly advised for creating new maps) this will be in "mod2->scenery->buildings->box." After injecting, click "Append" next to vertices and indices. The folder you were previously in, "box," should open. Go back two folders and you will find two items in the same folder with the "scenery" folder. Select first the vertices, then the indices. As soon as appendation has finished, quit HMT. Your scen should now be in your map. Now you may swap it into your scenario for another more useless piece of scen, and then move and/or duplicate it however you wish using swordedit.
There ya go. Have fun.

I can't do it. you guys are the modders i shouldn't try to do anything you guys do. You make it sound so easy but for a noob its not. in no way. I'm a horrible modder. Why did you have to redownload Halo demo?
Just back up the original Maps!

Re: How do i use Mota's tag pack??
Uh... Well, I guess you gave it your best shot. And, for the record, all modders start as ordinary people who have no freaking idea what the hell they're doing. "Modder" means nothing, anyone can be one of us. You just have to try and not give up too quickly. Some of the "modders" around here have only been modding since like last month or something.

No you have no idea. somehow i got peril h3 to be mashed together in the demo so 'bloodgulch' will not be an option in the 'create game' tab.Løki wrote:Why did you have to redownload Halo demo?

Re: How do i use Mota's tag pack??
Maps causing halo to crash are common; happens to my maps a lot, but it's easy to make it so that's not a problem.
If halo crashes, that doesn't mean you have to re-download it, it just means that the bloodgulch.map file is messed up and you should just replace it with the original version. So, before you make any mods, you should duplicate the Maps folder (highlight it and press cmd-D) so that you have an extra copy.
Any programs people talk about can be found here: http://www.halodemomods.com/wiki/Tools
To use mota's tags you're going to need to download Demo Hack, Halo Hacking Kit (HHK), Halo Mapping Tools (HMT), Swordedit, and Eschaton
Here's the tut Kayar gave you, in an easier to read form

Hope that helps you. If it still seems too complicated, try some easier stuff first. I recommend you read through and try some of the things in here: viewtopic.php?f=40&t=7146Open your map in demo hack and change it to full
Open your map in HHK
Then, choose in the menu "tools" and "import recursive."
Select first the scen tag of the building you wish to import (you'll have to find it in the folders), it'll be something like building.scen
click "okay," then select the folder the tags appear in. In Mota's Tags Pack, all of these folders are specifically labeled "Tags"
Wait a bit, save, then quit HHK.
Open the map in HMT, go to mod2, find your building's mod2, and highlight it by clicking on it
Click "Inject," then choose the mod2.meta file for your building. For example If you are importing the "box_building," this will be in "mod2->scenery->buildings->box" in mota's tag pack.
After injecting, click "Append" next to vertices and indices. The folder you were previously in, "box," should open. Go back two folders and you will find two items in the same folder with the "scenery" folder. Select first the vertices, then the indices.
Now quit HMT (you don't have to save).
Open the map in Eschaton
Find scnr, and click on the dependency swapper tab
Choose one of the scen tags (a tree or a rock or something) and swap it with the building you just imported
Now if go back to demo hack and change your map back to demo
Open up halo and when you enter a game you should see your imported building in the place of whatever you swapped it with
To move and/or duplicate it however you wish use swordedit.

Re: How do i use Mota's tag pack??
actoually, i was about to try that on vehicles and other things than just scenery, but once i got into the Tags folder for a vehicle, i noticed that it would be MUCH more complicated, so could you please post tutorials for vehicles, weapons, and buildings (I noticed that there was nothing in the tags folder for most buildings, or even all of them)?
