Night in bloodguch?

Post by RandomNumbers » Wed Sep 30, 2009 5:29 pm

How would one go about changing bloodgulch from day to night? I'm pretty sure you need to darken and lower the contrast on the scenery, then change the lighting or something... Not sure how though. Anyone mind helping a noob in distress? ?? :(

You have to edit the lightmaps. Go to the bitm tag, and then find a bitmap tag called levels\test\bloodgulch\bloodgulch. It should look like some glitchy yellow and orange squares. Edit them so they are darker, and re-import those images.

Cool, thanks. Only one problem, how do I turn off the sun?

Edit: Although it's probably harder, can you dim the sun and make it a moon?

'Nother edit: Figured out how to get rid of the sun, easy enough. But it still seems really light. Is there some sort of luminescence that you can turn down, or do you just darken the ground as well? Where does all the light come from? :?

Change the lens flare and null the sun's bitmaps.

Lightmaps aren't THAT simple :P
After that, you've gotta darken all the scenery.

Lightmaps are just bitmaps :S They're easy to modify.

So the sun has nothing to do with the lighting really? Aside from being a big white dot.

Yes but you might want to edit the sky too.

Otherwise it would be pitchblack with a sun and blue sky

Two more quick questions:

One, where do the lens flare options hide themselves? --Edit: figured that out... kinda obvious really.

And two, there's still this awful white "fog" that kinda ruins the effect. How can I change to be a bit darker?

Thanks.
