3 Questions

Post by RandomNumbers » Sun Oct 04, 2009 7:02 am

How do you remove/re-color the "fog" in bloodgulch? I changed the fog bitmap mask to black, but the vehicles and scenery still have a "white overlay" effect going on.

Secondly, in several maps I've used (e.g. Toxcity, Fusion G1, etc) it makes everything outside of a certain distance from MC very dark. Can anyone tell me how that is achieved?

And last of all, when you throw a grenade or fire a charged plasma pistol the projectile illuminates the ground when it gets close to it. Can this effect be amplified to be brighter, illuminate from further away and over a greater area?

Thanks.

fog! i dunno.

For the second question, i think you null out some lights, then darken the bitmaps of scenery and ground/walls to make it dark, then make the masterchief (bless his soul) have a light. there should be a light tag of some sort in the bipd, change it to something that's bright. the chief (bless his soul) should then be glowing a light of his own.

For the nade, go to the nade's light tag. Then change the radius, maybe intensity? or the color, not really sure...

Don't listen to Pie! He'll corrupt your brain!
ARRRGHHHHHHHHHAaarrraaaaaagh!
Go to the fog tag and darken each of the little color panels to a grayish black.
that should make it so you have fake darkness and that MC can't see worth shit.
As for the Plasma thing, look for it's tag in the ligh tag and change it's intensity.

Only one problem with that: there is no fog tag in bloodgulch ('cept two rasterizers in bitmaps).

There's a difference between sky fog and fog planes. Sky fog is handled by the SCNR and is applied throughout the map. Fog planes are handled by the SBSP, and can be applied at a 3D coordinate; water effects like splashes and such are caused by Fog planes, because they can act as a material.

Unfortunately it's only possible to add one in CE.

you can add a fog tag, but it won't be usable in the sbsp without adding the reference in CE.
Either you are groping for answers, or you are asking God and listening to Jesus.
