Meta aka Tags: individual files that contain data for a specific object in the map file. See:
Object.
Dependency: analogous to a
pointer to an object. Has a specific data structure in the following format:
Code: Select all
string tag_class; // 4 characters indicating the tag class of the referenced tag
uint32_t offset_to_name_string; // points to the location of a string with the name of the referenced tag
uint32_t zero; // always zero
uint32_t tagID; // unique value for tag
Reference aka LoneID: same as dependency but only consists of the tagID.
The tagID is a unique value that is associated with a given meta. There is a pattern to how they are generated so that the odds of encountering the value anywhere else are very low.

Here's the only one I have left, because I actually posted this one.
All my other ones, which I made the mistake not to post, have been lost, due to a really bad online storage company, that lost all my data, which I did not have backed up locally.

Also, if theres anyone here good with making pics for folder icons (AKA someone skilled with Iconographer) do give me a ring. Im having trouble with mine, and dont exactly have the time to fool around with it while I compile this.

does it have to be with iconographer? i can make some cool icons with photoshop

HDM also has a
dictionary and a
tags page, which are kind of good references I suppose.
On some kind of different note, I've been thinking of writing a tutorial (or some kind of documentation) on memory modding Halo (as opposed to map modding) since there seems to be not so much information about it in general, and not so easy to do cool dynamic things (which is something I'm currently
working on being easier to do).
I am no longer active to Halo or MGM, and don't guarantee a response on the forums or through email. I will however linger around the discord room for general chatting. It's been fun!
