Re: How to model
VashM16, please say step-by-step what you did here.
If you are having problems opening .obj files, perhaps try a different .obj file -- like a free one from www.turbosquid.com, or from http://hce.halomaps.org under their models section.
You can also try using Blender instead. http://www.blender.org

Re: How to model
The OBJconverter is a horrible program that I've used endlessly trying to learn how it's used and how to perfect the use of it. The short and sweet of it is you can't. It's buggy and out of date. Even if you follow the procedure from beginning to end, you'll have a hole model, a broken collison or in the end the size will be wrong or not match said collision which result in you repeating the process all over again. Note, even the exact postioning of the model in the file needs to be exact with the original model. You have better luck using CE.

Re: How to model
I used to use it before Eschaton could import models and bitmaps, and it worked fine back then. I was new to HMT and HHK back then, but those worked for me also. I had to use the ReadMe each time to try to memorize how to import them using that process. That's PMI, Perfect Model Injection.

Re: How to model
1st, I took the model of the spartan in CE, and exported it. Then I opened it in OBJ and exported all the parts as OBJs. Lastly I tried to open them in wings and it gave me the error I told you about earlier.Sparky wrote:VashM16, please say step-by-step what you did here.

Re: How to model
That didn't go as well as I had hoped. What does this mean? I understand the gist of what you're saying, and as far as I recall, that's not the right method. Did you read the included ReadMe file?VashM16 wrote:1st, I took the model of the spartan in CE, and exported it. Then I opened it in OBJ and exported all the parts as OBJs. Did you try opening an actual .obj file with Wings3D? Go download one from the internet.

This means that I Took the Spartan model and exported in out of Eschaton. XPSparky wrote:That didn't go as well as I had hoped. What does this mean? Re: How to model
I've always used HHK and HMT for imports/exports and have never had a problem.

What a shitty thread
Fuck all of you.
Re: How to model
You must realize that the mod2 model file exported using Eschaton is not an OBJ model file. You must use the applications that the OBJConverter application was made to use: HMT and HHK. This means also using DemoHack. Eschaton was not able to handle models at the time OBJConverter was made. This HMT/HHK modding is antiquated by Eschaton, but it's the only way to use OBJConverter.
