Re: Extending the Life of Halo Modding
The main objective of this is to create a Universal Binary file that only has the functionality of halo demo. Other side things are being worked on to make it better than Halo demo, but the main goal is just a halo demo for intel.

Fuck all of you.
Re: Extending the Life of Halo Modding
In case you didn't realize, lion dropped support for PPC so only the UB version of halo full can be played, thus mgm's very own geniuses are working on modifying haloUB into a halo demoUB thing. Thus making it, as knightmare said, an intel, up to date working version of Halo Demo.
(pretty much the same thing said as Knightmare but oh well)

Have you guys checked out Open Sauce?

Re: Extending the Life of Halo Modding
I played with OS awhile ago, when it was going through some earlier stages. But it is not useful to us.
Re: Extending the Life of Halo Modding
Can you always reproduce this? That is, creating a 'ghost' server that stays shown in the lobby even when the game is closed? If so, I'd think we'd just have to find the area of code that deals with closing the server and try to skip over it..Modzy wrote:As for my previous "success," I believe that, through some glitch somewhere, the state changed message was never sent to the master server from a previous attempt to create a server. Basically, when you create a server, all the information is sent to the master server to be added to the list. In the case of an invalid key error, your server is created before the error is prompted, but then closed as soon as it is. Somehow the closing bit was not sent to the master server, allowing it to appear in the list, like a ghost server. Similar to what happens if you start a server in HD and force quit it.
I am no longer active to Halo or MGM, and don't guarantee a response on the forums or through email. I will however linger around the discord room for general chatting. It's been fun!
Re: Extending the Life of Halo Modding
The problem with that is that servers that have been closed will remain in the lobby for several minutes, making it hard for someone trying to find a good server, and easy for someone to spam the list.nil wrote:Can you always reproduce this? Unless you mean skip over closing the server itself, should is what I've been trying to do.

I mean skip over closing the server itself. I was just asking if you could always reproduce it such that the server appears in the gamespy lobby.Modzy wrote:The problem with that is that servers that have been closed will remain in the lobby for several minutes, making it hard for someone trying to find a good server, and easy for someone to spam the list.nil wrote:Can you always reproduce this? Re: Extending the Life of Halo Modding
Could we find a way to get demo servers showing up in a separate program, then use direct connect to connect to servers that show up?

Re: Extending the Life of Halo Modding
HDL does something like that.

Re: Extending the Life of Halo Modding
Joining servers via a separate application would be pretty easy. But I'd rather just find a way to use the gamespy lists.
Currently, the execs we've released would work fine for Game Ranger servers.

Re: Extending the Life of Halo Modding
Just a query: since I bought Halo:UB, I've been having graphics problems which prevent me from using high level shaders or seeing scenery pieces. Is there any fix known for this?

Re: Extending the Life of Halo Modding
Are you using a Nvidia graphics card?
Also, you might need to disable anti-aliasing in your general graphics driver settings if you're getting a black screen in Halo PC and Halo CE; that's a problem I had, and I'm just mentioning that here because it's related to graphics problems.
