I vote Monoman as host.

Once or twice a year sounds like a nice idea:

2010 MGM Halo Award: Best Graphic
*picture of first place award*

or

Winter 2010 MGM Halo Award
*picture of third place award with category*

or

MGM Award Winner, Summer 2011
*picture of second place award with category*

What about "finalists" category awards, like other competitions?

Formatting is a consideration ^

How about "best prop" as a category ;)
Great idea guys, ill help in any way I can.
The armaments which thunderstrike the walls
And monarchs tremble in their capitals.
The oak leviathans, whose huge ribs make
Of lord of thee, and arbiter of war;
Alike the Armada's pride, or spoils of Trafalgar.

I say that the ceremony be held towards the end of the year, which is kinda a given.
And we should also elect a host!
I nominate fortune for host of 2010!!

>.< I nominate fourchin for not being host.

Well, looks like that's ten votes against fourchin and a half a vote for him.

Moving on...

Shall I start other topics for A. Deciding host and B. Choosing categories/awards? Also, on the other hand, should we have a separate Award Committee and board?

my idea on categories:
most creative singleplayer mod
most creative multiplayer mod
most creative scen-based multiplayer mod
most creative storyline for mod
most humorous mod (singleplayer and multiplayer)
most creative use of CE imports
most creative bitmaps (single and multiplayer)

of course not all of these but some would be interesting.

Thats good for the MOD awards, but what about the random other ones.

Good ideas, but some of them are based on previous & current technology. And how would AI multiplayer mods be classified? As SP or MP?

I hence suggest experienced based categories, such as:
  • Scariest mod
  • Funniest mod
  • Most believable storyline
  • Best use/application of graphics (... it's entirely possible to use awesome, high-resolution graphics in the wrong way & make it awful ...)
  • Most challenging gameplay
  • Most realistic AI
As with your suggestions, it's only suggestions for now.

Umm ... but then AI bloodgulch mods would also be considered MP even though they would be ranked against mods intended for multiplayer use?

Perhaps ... something like:
  • SP: any mod/map intended to be used for playing alone.
  • MP: any mod/map intended to be used for playing against other players over a network.
So there's less confusion, and some AIs are meant to be synced. Feel free to improve ...
