You can also try Gimp, its free!
" When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep, not screaming, like the passengers in his car."
Re: what is the best...
gimp requires x11.
seashore is gimps source code edited with no x11. so its almost the same.

*cough*

In my comp u open gimp, gimp loads out X11, which is something like another name for gimp cause it has the gimp pic but uses windows controls (control+<something>, not command+<something>)pielogist wrote:soz if dis off topic or anything, but wat is x11?

Offtopic:
X11 is a window manager. It's a different way of creating windows than how OSX would normally do it. It's lower level and has some different ways of drawing controls. X11 (aka X Window System aka X) is common across many unices and unix-like systems. It also has the advantage of being able to work across networks so if you're remote logged in to another computer you could start an X session with a program on that computer and the screen for the program would start on your computer. X is underneath both GNOME and KDE which are popular desktop environments on linux. Apple decided to write their own with Quartz but for compatibility include X11 anyways. That allows many *nix programs to be ported without too many issues like the gimp.
