Plasma colors

I don't know if this has already been posted, but how to i change the color of a plasma round, I know flamethrower, just nut plasma, I'm working on a colorful mod where the muzzle flash, (glow), and projectile are different colors, i already figured out the glow, but not the rest, and I'm going to need a night map, so I might just borrow one of yours, preferably one of Moxus' mods, because the light will be all bright, I also plan on making objects like trees and rocks and the base symbols glow, even the Spartans will glow in some color.

mgs2: Light Volume
Glow is the name of the glw! tag, such as what is used by the energy sword

Overall, that sounds like a nifty idea :)

icebulb: yeah, what do you mean as ‘plasma’? as sparky points out, the glow you mean is called mgs2 in the tags.

but that's not the only thing to modify! a plasma bolt may be made by:
- a contrail (cont)
- a glow, or light volume (mgs2)
- some tail effects (effe), but only in plasma cannon and plasma pistol's charged projectiles.
- a model (mod2), but only in plasma cannon's case.

so, yeah! if you want to change the color of the whole projectile you will have to modify those tags too!
... and also the impact effects if you want to do a perfect job! :o it will take a little longer probably, but it's worth it IMO.

so, uh yeah! i'll write instructions on how to do this!

Light volume!
• open your map in eschaton, go to mgs2 tags.
• click on the tag you need. let's say, weapons\plasma rifle\bolt.
• in Meta Editor goto Reflexives > Frames > Frames 1 > Color ARGBs > tint color hither.
click on the Color Picker button and choose the color or modify the sliders as you please.
• repeat green step(s) with Reflexives > Frames > Frames 1 > Color ARGBs > tint color yon.

and voilà, that's for the mgs2.

*TO BE EDITED SOON! CHECK THIS OUT LATER!*

mgs2 is the "light and color" of the plasma bolts itself, just to clear things up

Well, I managed to get the weapons to glow before I posted this, and I didn't use the glw! tag, and by plasma taxi, I meant the plasma projectile. The problem is is that I did go into the mgs2 and I couldn't find a way to change the color, only in the ligh tag, so if I can make a weapon glow with the glw! tag, and ligh tag, I can make them glow two colors!

Hey, there is a slight problem in what you all voted for, there is only about 3 plasma weapons, so should I only use 3? Or should I import more from somewhere.

Also with the ligh effect I'm using the only glow appears on walls, is it possible to put it the hud so the hud glows? I also skrewed around with the text, so its different colors, but is it possible to make the text glow? Any ways in slayer instead of being light blue in the in-game carnage report you may be your own color, or just a bright orange. Thank you guys I just made it so the bolts are now different colors.

You can export and reimport to duplicate weapons. Or you could take non-plasma weapons and make projectile swaps, maybe swap effect and mgs2 etc. dependencies in the actual proj tag to make plasma projectiles, or export/reimport just the plasma projectiles themselves to duplicate them and then swap them...

This is not my immediate concern, but it it will be. My concern is that I can't figure out how to change the color of the contrail, or the muzzle flash color. And I also can't figure out how to change the color of the plasma rifle when its over heated (it opens, and plasma leaks out, THAT is what I'm talking about).I also fine that the plasma pistols, (maybe rifle too) when they hit some thing, they leave those green fizzing sparks.

Not much idea, but maybe bitmaps swapping.
"ligh" tags. Search for muzzle flash, edit color.
Effe tags. Experiment around first, before asking.

Slow projectile shot with red sparking effect attached that has a high weight/arc value. Shot high into the air = flare. Give it a smoke contrail, too.

To change contrail, go in the d-swapper in the cont tag and swap the bitmap that's in there. Unfortunately, this means you can't have any color you want, unless you internalize/inject a bitmap of the color you want. Otherwise you just have to use the available bitmaps. A good example of this is the Eclipse Cannon, found in Anthology here.
