how to spawn ai with vehicles (the easy way)

i was playing around with eschaton and i found a way to import ai and have them in vehicles.


1. open up b30.map

2. go to actor and extract the ai you want.

3. go to actv (actor variant) folder and click the down arrow. export those tags that you had from actr. (ex. elite and elite minor plasma rifle)

4. open and expand the multiplayer map you want to spawn them in. import all the tags and go down to the vehicles folder.

5. open up the vehicle you want to spawn them in (ex, warthog)

6.go down to the bottom and you will see three empty actv tags. use the ref swapper to put the ai in the vehicles.

7. be sure not to do, vehicles\warthog driver, but actually put the names of the ai in like actv: elite\elite minor\plasma rifle

oh really? i just thought that cuz the only tut i could find for importing ai into vehicles was with the extracting and the injecting. the long way http://www.halodemomods.com/wiki/Spawni ... h_Vehicles

That tutorial you referenced was prior to Eschaton 0.7.3, I think. Or maybe 0.8.0? Anyway, you're right, this is currently the easiest method. The tutorial uses HHK to import models and such, when Eschaton does this normally.

So what you are saying is essentially the same as what the tutorial is saying, but you're describing the process using Eschaton.

The actr is referenced inside the actv, so you really only need to recursively extract the actv, not your 1/2 step there.

oh yeah. sparky, do you know how to take models out of eschaton, put them into blender and edit them, and put them back into eschaton? i wanted to make a chopper, but i couldn't find any tuts or vids. plz help!!!!!

yeah... i got a problem with saving to obj from obj converter i t always shows up as a textedit file. it still says mymodel.obj, but it haas all these numbers and letters. is it a problem with my computer or am i doing something wrong?

That file contains the model data in terms of its vertex locations; do the insructions tell you what to do with the file?

no, it just saves as .obj. for some reason it only opens up in cheetah3d, and won't let me save, because it it the demo. is it possible to save the model so that it can open in blender or google sketchup? when i try to chage th .obj to .skp, it says that the file is not a google sketchup file. same with blender.

You should be able to easily import obj models into Blender. Try looking under the File menu?

for some reason, my computer automatically saves with cheetah, and i have the demo, so i cant save.
blender and wings refuse to open the .obj.

aaaaaaaaaaaargh!
