I'm still not quite sure what you're trying to do. But it seems largely impractical to me.

This is the best description. I was thinking of an app that takes the modified tags from a map that were autodetected and put them in other maps. Hugely pratical for campaign spanning mods.TaxiService wrote:o
You would press the Record button and by going into a certain tag and changing a certain value, Eschaton would repeat these actions into the other maps you tell it to. o_o

This is what my app that I imagined would do. Much more like that latter than the former.Mgalekgolo wrote:This is the best description. Re: random idea: Tag patcher
The simple variability of the lack of similar tags from map to map makes this idea more complicated. It'd almost be simpler to export required tags and import them to make sure the data is there for them to be swapped in. And doing something along these could again be a simple Automator + AppleScript task. (Yes AppleScript sucks but for people not developing in depth programs it's simple.) The downside to this of course is that you would have to create a new Automator task for every group of mods you do, but you would have to do this anyway with your proposed method and Automator does have a record function.

Re: random idea: Tag patcher
There is not a lack of similar tags throughout the maps.
And part of the design is if the map dont have the tag it could check the references from the map its being copied from and ask you if you want it to be auto referenced and blah. Its getting more complicated the more you post ghosts -_-.

Re: random idea: Tag patcher
Automator or macro use would be flawed unless appropriate hotkeys were used in the application. With Eschaton, you'd need to press a key and have the tag class starting with that key be highlighted... and so on.
The fastest way to do what you want to do is to Externally Recursively Export the tags you want and save them into a folder named after your mod project. Give the actual tags you will be importing a colorized label in the Finder so that you can easily see what you should import next time. What Eschaton should do is to create an alias to that recursively-extracted tag and place the alias inside a separate folder called "recursive extraction - %s" where %s is a user-given string value, basically the same thing as "new folder" where you enter the name of the folder. But an alias would be place there for the tag you will be recursively importing. An example alias name would be a basic "vehi - warthog_mp".
What you are proposing would be possible in Zeus with the INCY Online system. Otherwise, use Eschaton.

Re: random idea: Tag patcher
I had a similar idea many years ago. I was going to update it to include tags for [im|ex]port but that never panned out. So UHP only handles meta edits. It wouldn't be too hard to write something though. I figured it's uses were too limited for me to bother with but someone (who's not me) that's interested could probably hack one together using the core bits of the Eschaton engine.

Re: random idea: Tag patcher
Why not simply give Eschaton an "overwrite existing tags" option? It's just like a filesystem: rename the new ones, overwrite existing files by that name, or skip the files existing with that name.
But I was hoping that with the INCY Online, a standardized tag path format (for example) would avoid this issue with the ability to rename existing tags.
