Is it possible to do this with any of the things that i find here, or will i have to go to Custom edition, considering i have only a mac here.
Whether it be Pearl/Eschaton, Is it possible?

Like just the tag? Or the actual model file so you can edit it?

I teach a video game design class and I'd be interested to know how to pull the model files from the game to edit.

Is that possible?

I've been tinkering around a little bit, but nothing big. I really want my students to do most of the research and work so they learn instead of just me.

If you have a PPC, the Mac version of Halo Mapping Tools allows you to pull models.

If not, the data is pretty easy to get to. I could provide some info on extracting them if you really want them.

If you want to teach more about game design and less about tinkering an archaic game with weak modding support and maintainability, I suggest perhaps looking into other games with strong 1st party modding support as well. I've seen some beginner success with things like Game Maker and Unity as well as far as content creation goes.
I am no longer active to Halo or MGM, and don't guarantee a response on the forums or through email. I will however linger around the discord room for general chatting. It's been fun!
