Mod Hosting Times

Well, I figure that now we have a decent time zone converter, courtesy of Moxus, I figure I might as well take the initiative of posting this thread.

In this thread, you basically make times in which you will host a particular mod. Your post must include the following:

• The timezone which you live in.
• The time (For your timezone) which the server will be up at.
• The date at which you will be hosting.
• The name of the server.
• The password (if any) of the server.
• The mod you shall be hosting.
• The number of people the server will take.

Here is an example post:

Hello people! I shall be hosting the Great Wall of Gulch mod at 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, American Chicago time zone. The name will be Great Wall of Gulch and the pass will be "blah". The server will take 16 people. Hope to see you there!

A player should:

• Know what time zone they live in.
• Know how to convert the timezone the host is in to there's.
• Have the mod the host is hosting.
• The host should know for sure that the time in which they are planning to host is a time in which they are open. (No homework that needs doing, jobs, etc...)

To get an accurate time zone converter, click here. It will be helpful!

Monoman has also added a new tag that can be used when people host. The halohost tag requires the IP address of the host.

For example,

Code: Select all

[halohost]123.456.78.9[/halohost]
If the server is still up then server info will be displayed.
Servername: My Awesome Game
Players: 16/16
Ping: 50
Map: bloodgulch
GameType: CTF

If the server is no longer up then Server Down is displayed.

Questions? Comments? Criticism? Mod host times? I'm open to it all.

suggestion:

you noticed that we are posting in this area even without saying when we will host, no?

so, when you will say a time, say it in "gold" color.

example: i'll host Quarantine mod at 10:35 GMT of 10/10/2010, password: mydick

to do it, simply write "gold" instead of the a color (color=gold)

the post must contain only the date, the time, server name and password and mod used writed with gold characters <–– how is this rule?

I think that rule is fine. The only addition would make would be to have a notes section as optional (so that you could write notes concerning the server that doesn't fit the other criteria).

I have a question coupled with a suggestion.

Question: When are people free on Sunday (Monday in Australia) to play a game/games? Please Post what time you would be available using the Time Converter in 0 GMT time.

Suggestion: What if we had a "Forum" game every weekend, where a few of us get together and play a mod? Each week we could suggest a mod, and play that mod.

I would be free from 17:00 - 20:30 on Sundays.

I can also host the game, but no more then 10 people can join, otherwise we get serious lag.

Yeah... For a sec I was about to join, until I noticed it was 9:31. Its 9:23 right now. And I realized the time zone and the fact that you posted at 7:31 my time... You should declare at least 3 hours or more to give people time.

Actualy, that should be another rule.
