I'm not sure if this is true or not but I can't host servers.

I'll host a server right now called server test

server name: server test
pass: MGMF
on mac
no mod (just testing)

Nope... You can't host. I just tried to join but it said: Unable to connect to server. Could it have something to do with the IP adress?

that is a confuzzling problem... this happens on my friends macbook. so every time he makes a mod, he has to mediafire it, i download it, and then he joins mine. i think it has to do with the mac address.

Here is something that might help:

Also, you may have to modify that or use bits and pieces. Do you use AirPort or another wireless internet connection?

This is a very common problem. Moxus had a link... And there is another somewhere....

You probably just have to use Port Forwarding on your router with the Halo Demo ports.

I have a Wireless G ADSL Router, further described as a ADSL 2/2 Ready Wireless G Gateway Router

Which is further described as a 6 in 1 device: ADSL Modem + Wireless G AP + Router + 4 Port 10/100 Auto MDIX Switch + USB + Firewall

@_@
For some stupid reason my Mac(book) can connect to the modem's wireless signal, but I can't access the internet.
I have to use a direct cable @_@ The slot on the right of the charging slot
-.-

Why is it most desktops are able to host games? My laptop can't =(
Or is it just a mythical theory..

you need a wireless password. Thats so people can't acess your internet. The password is on the MAIN Computer of your house. What you need to do is put in your wireless router installer disc in the MAIN computer (or the one that set up the wireless connection) and just go through the steps. At the end it should give u a password. Copy down the password and put it in as you try to connect to your wireless network.

thanks for the link

now all I need to do is find setup>forwarding (not in spotlight)

EDIT: I can't do most of this since I'm not admin

I'll have to ask for it

I'll get it

EDIT2: Linksys Start Here

Go to "System Preferences>Network>TCP/IP". Write down your Subnet Mask then change "Configure IPv4" to Manually. In the "IP Address" box, put 10.0.1.253, in "Subnet Mask", put in the subnet mask you wrote down, in "Router", write 10.0.1.1, in "DNS Servers" write the DNS IP that you wrote down from the "Internet" Tab. Save the settings!

If You are Using a Linksys Wireless ISR

Lucky you! Your job is really easy! All that you have to do is follow the above from where it says Linksys Start Here AFTER going into the router's settings and doing the following:

Go to Setup>Forwarding

Add this: Halo Server 2302 - 2302 UDP - 10.0.1.253
and this: Halo Client 2303 - 2303 UDP - 10.0.1.253
and this: Web 80-80 TCP - 10.0.1.253

Now start from where it says: Linksys Start Here then finish out the guide!

___________________________________________

now, what is "Setup>forwarding"
and

Web 80-80 TCP - 10.0.1.253

and

Subnet Mask

and

write the DNS IP that you wrote down from the "Internet" Tab.

?

Except that process will no longer work if you have Leopard. You would need to manually open ports.
