Well shoot me silly full of holes.

What. The. Fuck.

Okay. Okay. Yeah, I can see where this came from. It's understandable. Of course if I'm going to leave the forums for a month or two I should expect to return and find that they've been overrun with noobs, newbs, and even worse, noobs. And that the last mod released was made entirely in eschaton and took less than a day. And that the last mod released prior to that was likely also a noob mod released probably a month ago, although I didn't really check. I guess I should have expected that because of this most of the good ol' modders would disappear as well, in order to escape. When Fonzie said there was a lot of activity going on over at MGM, I didn't expect that activity to be complete and total spam.

But I guess this just goes to show, you gotta be prepared for some things. Like total apocalyptic Halo Demo modding meltdown.

Long story short: Kayar's coming back. And we will have new mods. New maps. Which will rock. A lot. And Halo Demo Modding shall be reborn.

This is what I like to call the effects of school. Wait for exams to be over and people (including me) will release some mods.

What would be cool is a huge-ass MGM mod where everybody in MGM who CAN mod can contribute. And this time to be more haha is everybody's face because you know it kicks total ass.

Like we can get better with less skill.
Your logic is not going to work at this point in time. There aren't really any modders left these days.
They left because of both school, and the massive amount of newbs joining.

Yeah, I mod for fun, too. But I only release the mods after they are in a state I deem releasable. Like for my environments mod series, I have most of the rest of the environments in the works, but I don't consider them releasable yet for any given reason.

Modding contests are somewhat able to revitalize the community. The real issue is that people are knowledgeable enough to know how most mods work. That means that the "wow" factor of using some technique no one knows about is much rarer. Which in turn means figuring out some way to creatively use known and understood methods to create something new and interesting. It's like magic: once you know the trick behind it, it's much harder to be entertained. You can either watch someone perform and knowing the ins and outs appreciate how well they've done the trick, or they have to use what you already know in some new and fresh way that even you for a second stop thinking in terms of the mechanics of how it's done and believe what just happened.

Knowledge is power, ignorance is bliss.

I'll be back once APs are over. Basically, two weeks from now.

It's the 4th quarter of my senior year and all my classes are AP classes. Once the AP tests are over, there is NOTHING left to do.

If I hadnt procrastinated for a year to release Killtacular, Im sure reception would have a been a bit better. Sure, its all Eschaton (actually, a lot in the beginning is hex). But there is hardly anything the same in there except the map itself. Everything effect was carefully crafted from "scratch" to show what a mod with no imports could end up like. Of course, nobody cares anymore unless something is imported, converted, injected, etc.

I say poo to all of that and keep the map file intact. Also, people just dont make "fun" mods anymore. Its too serious, like how Forgehub has become with maps. It has to have interlocking and some impressive features with crazy aesthetics that have some sort of grand central gametype. Whatever happened to Hobo Showers? Now we have "Sky Pyramid" and "Wishbone" which looks nice and all. Most of the other ones I dont even bother with. Last Featured Map I DLed was Socratic Method, and only cause I love conquest gametypes.

Thats what Halo Demo Modding has become. I dont even bother to develop ideas since I dont care to move past meta and d-swap edits.
