Prevent Host from Quiting

Post by Titan » Sat Apr 29, 2006 7:03 pm

Awhile ago Jonathan requested a mod that prevented the host from quitting. I figured out how to do it. It simple changes the leave game button for a resume game one in the esc game menu. This is not CSS so only the host will not be able to quit.

There are still ways for the host to quit. They can go Game Options -> New Game then when the game over window comes up hit esc. Also they can force quit Halo.

Getting this mod to people would be difficult as most (probably all) hosts want to be able to quit whenever. A possibility would be to build mods on top of this one so that people will download it, host, and not be able to quit if they are losing.

I posted it in the Mod Upload place.

Um...yeah...and nobody's going to download a mod that won't allow them to quit, LOL.

Also, changing menu text and stuff is how I made this baby right here:

Thats Halo Demo (I think) he just has his graphics turned all the way up. Also the mod doesn't only change the text it changes what the button does and Jonathan wanted it because some hosts quit halfway through the game because their losing.

Request

Explanation

Jonathan wrote:The menus are also stored in maps, should someone really want to do it. I said it mainly because all hosts always seem to quit lately. I have played on 3 or 4 hosts since my previous post, and they all quit in mid-game, often because they couldn't handle the opposition.

When starting Halo hold down the (cmd) key. A window pops up. Set everything to max there.

I think it automatically detects what your system can and can't do. So even if you wanted to, if you didn't have a good enough system, you wouldn't be able to set it to max.

suggestion

Post by snipe? » Wed May 03, 2006 10:22 pm

my suggestion is, the host should be able to quit, but before the host does, the host should be able to choose if he/she wants to close the game down, or let it continue by choosing somebody else in the same game to continue hosting...etc..
