No sun?
Hmm...I know monoman's working on a Dark Bloodgulch mod, and I'd like to do somewhat of the same thing -- except not a complete bloodgulch makeover. I'd just like to know how to get rid of the sun. I've gotten the sun's lens-flare to tone down to nothing, and I've gotten fog turned so far up, that you can't see anything except what's inside of your motion-sensor's range. However, this just doesn't cut it... What I want to do is make it a midnight sniper battle. The fog won't do it, because the Sniper Rifle's built-in night vision can't see through fog.
Can anyone help me here?
And yeah, I am aware that lights do not transfer over multiplayer games; I'd have to give the mod out -- which is fine, because I'm not going to include anything like flying tanks or walk-on-walls.
I'd really love it if anyone knew how to do this.
Also why does it give me the option to post this topic as a sticky?

Re: No sun?
The problem I noticed with the darkness not being serverside is that if a player does not have the mod the map shows up lit which gives them a huge advantage if everyone else is in the dark.Deox wrote:And yeah, I am aware that lights do not transfer over multiplayer games; I'd have to give the mod out -- which is fine, because I'm not going to include anything like flying tanks or walk-on-walls.
I just hadn't turned that off for this board.Deox wrote:Also why does it give me the option to post this topic as a sticky?

Yeah yeah, things like fog, light, etc don't make it to clients - I understand this, but I'd still like to know how to do it ^.^Monoman wrote:The problem I noticed with the darkness not being serverside is that if a player does not have the mod the map shows up lit which gives them a huge advantage if everyone else is in the dark.Deox wrote:And yeah, I am aware that lights do not transfer over multiplayer games; I'd have to give the mod out -- which is fine, because I'm not going to include anything like flying tanks or walk-on-walls.
Thanks.
It's in the sky meta.grat24 wrote:yea it works but how do u change fog density and whatnot?
Here's an example mod I made - it's a modified version of the melee-only mod, made by sword, Stoutie, and ambrosia.
I find it rather fun, because you never really know where you are! (Due to dense fog)
I tried black fog, and it looks lame (moderately-cool with the sky replaced with darkness, but still lame). It's lame because the ground is still lit, and you can see the lights on the enemy's base. With white fog, it looks awesome.
Hmm, that can't be done. I mean, it can..but only to a certain degree. The host will be able to see the sped-up crouching perfectly, while all clients will see themselves teleporting, and it may seem jerky.aaoander wrote:i love it. now if only we could make a CSS mod for increasing speed when crouching in the fog.
sword made a mod like that once.
