May peace prevail in this world.
Perhaps I should mod Halo again. Soon.

But really Sparky, I think quite a lot of people will appreciate it if you upload Halo Full. So yea, I guess you should go ahead and do it.

Then that is your problem.DanDan wrote:Of which I don't have...
The maps are not an especially hard-to-find resource, and can still be obtained legally at a sane price (or go ahead and pirate it, like a real pirate). I don't want HDM to be a place to obtain the entire game illegally, and that is obviously against the wiki rules to begin with. If you want to mod these maps, then do so on the latest full version, not the demo, which like full PPC, is also going to die in the near future.
[edit]: Sparky, I have versions 1.02, 1.03, 1.05, 1.0.5.3, 1.5.1, 1.5.2 - they should in some way correspond to all the different network versions before the UB was released.
I am no longer active to Halo or MGM, and don't guarantee a response on the forums or through email. I will however linger around the discord room for general chatting. It's been fun!

Well, we would not get a takedown notice, but nil convinced me anyway. We should just be happy that some companies decided to port the game to Intel chipsets. And although the map files are probably different between Halo Full PC and Halo Full Mac, those are still available at a reasonable price (or you could even download them from halomaps.org, how 'bout 'dem apples, dirk?) and then convert either the Halo CE or Halo Full PC maps using Pearl, Queen Anne's Revenge or Harbinger.
Either you are groping for answers, or you are asking God and listening to Jesus.

Well, if you want, I wouldn't mind us uploading an archive of all the important PPC versions, just without the map files. Something to think about.Sparky wrote:Well, we would not get a takedown notice, but nil convinced me anyway. We should just be happy that some companies decided to port the game to Intel chipsets. Also, the map files have never changed since the initial release, and they're the same as Halo PC ones as well, which have also never changed across versions (except for Trial and Demo).

Don't do it. It's an insult to the original developers and the people who worked on it back in 03. You wouldn't have done it back in 08, why do it now?

Agreed, It's not about getting the game for free and stealing it from the developers.Human wrote:No its not..... I like this idea. Do it, please. And add the uploaded files to the Halo -- and the Halo Demo -- wiki pages (not the Mod Database). (In case you didn't know what I meant, search for "Halo" and "Halo Demo" in the wiki.)nil wrote:Well, if you want, I wouldn't mind us uploading an archive of all the important PPC versions, just without the map files. Re: Releasing Halo 1 Mac on HDM
I recently sent an e-mail to people at both Bungie and MacSoft for permission to release it. That's the simplest answer, if they say yeah(which is highly unlikely) then we can do it guilt free. If they say no, then we're back to the original problem.

You know, I am in a foul mood you dumb shit, so get this. In order to do anything official with halo you need to own the IP rights to the game. Microsft own these, not macsoft and not bungie. Bungie own some retaining rights to patch MP or small thing, but they cannot add anything new to the game in terms of features. This means you need to be contacting microsoft about releasing the IP for it to be published online for free. And since you are a fucking rock and don't realize this IP is in use for Halo AE, this is not going to happen in the next 20 years.
for those of you that have trouble reading:
release it in any way you will get sued and get takedown notices. In order to have the rights to the game to post it you would need to buy them off microsoft. at this point you are either going to be told a number too high to be affordable, or you are going to be told they are not for sale.
does that make sense to you moron?
