B40 (Assault on the Control Room) Glitch? Please HELP!

I'm really stumped about what could be causing this =/

Every time I try to import custom tags into B40 through Eschaton, the beginning cutscene of AotCR glitches out. The walking grunt does not appear from the initial birds-eye view camera, the Pelican remains invisible for the letterbox portion of the cutscene and, when it appears afterwards, the Master Chief jumps out IMMEDIATELY as the view switches to first-person, sending him falling into the abyss below. Before dying however, the game freezes and quits entirely.

Keep in mind, the whole time, NONE of the imported custom content is even REFERENCED. The map apparently cannot even handle unreferenced custom content =/

The tags imported include:

Custom NPC Bipeds
Custom 1st Person Hands
Custom HUDs and Grenade HUDs
Custom MC Models
Custom Weapon Tags

Is this a known problem with AotCR's ability to handle custom tags and stuff? Is there a workaround for it? It's obviously possible to mod B40 (otherwise CMT couldn't make THEIR custom version or H3 Style Campaign's B40 map wouldn't exist), but I don't know what to do about this problem? Does anyone have any concrete solutions? Thanks

get a new b40 and start from scratch.
import ONE thing at a time to see what messes it up

Okay NONE of the tags are importing. I tried one custom weapon tag, one biped, one HUD item....

NONE of it is compatible. What's going on? I've done this with 4 other campaign maps and they all come out fine...

And you tried with a fresh map every time? Have you since tried importing one of the tags into a different map?

Yeah, I did one map rebuild with an imported Halo 3 Grunt biped. That froze. Then i tried a map rebuild with an imported CMT plasma rifle tag. That froze as well.

These tags are already imported and working in 4 other campaign levels like I said. I have them ALL working (I count around 30 custom tags, not including their subreferenced tags) on:

- The Pillar of Autumn
- Halo
- The Silent Cartographer, and
- The Library

I also imported the tags into AotCR direct from my modified B30 map, so there were no cross-version compatibility issues. I'm really stumped about why this particular map is giving me such a hard time =/

Sounds more like an Eschaton problem. When it comes to single player maps, a lot can go wrong with reflexive updating, since Eschaton does not use mapped out updating for any tag.
I had a similar issue with Pearl, BSPs would convert perfectly, but cutscenes or spawn points or other would be updated as false positives. So I had to create code for mapped out updating of the SCNR as well.

=/ Yeah now its givin me the same crap for Two Betrayals. Idk if it's something with the BSP...since they use practically the same BSP, that's what I'm thinking. Idk.

Is there any other map editor and rebuilder that's more stable for SP maps?

I'm no god when it comes to this, but it could be perhaps there are too many tags in your map. what you could try is import a tag, and delete the tag(s) it's meant to replace.

What happened with me is that every map but b30 and a30 always crash when I try to rebuild and put something in. The only thing that worked was when I was importing my bipeds with huds elite, I deleted the elite biped first. Thats all.

I'll try that, I'll letcha guys know how it goes in uno momento. AotCR and Two Betrayals ARE after all the most massive maps in the campaign, so I wouldn't doubt I might be overloading the poor thing.

As I feared, no luck =/

Try doing it with HHK/HMT, that's my final suggestion. I'm still not sure the basis around Eschaton's importation but I believe people have had more problems with it than the old system.

If that doesn't work, perhaps somebody could provide me with a DL link to a B40.map file that they successfuly modded. Perhaps my map file is just corrupted (even though it plays fine unmodded)...I'm in class right now so I'm going to be a good boy and start taking notes =P

Again, I'll keep you guys posted as I try HHK/HMT

Okay I have both HHK and HMT now. Any recommendations on what to do?

Do you think that having HHK collect the garbage from one of my crashing builds will solve the problem?

Now 343 Guilty Spark crashes near the end of the level for some reason....

F@$%!!!!!!!! I'm really getting pissed off at whatever this problem is stemming from >=/
