A while back I was asked if current programs could be modified to edit Halo: Anniversary Edition maps. I was able to get some odd features working but not much worthwhile as I am a lazy.

I now present Eschaton AE, a modification of Eschaton 0.8. Capable of performing such things as:

Halo: AE map loading:

Reference swapping:

Full-featured meta-editing with today's top plugins:

*Note: all map expanding and tag extraction has been removed and is unsupported. This program will only open Halo: AE maps.

Enjoy Halo AE modding. Don't get M$ ban-hammered.

System has to be j-tagged.

Doesn't it save the maps to cache just like the original?

And how exactly does one do this? I have an old 360 lying around.

I feel like people should be making a bigger deal about this, but then again microsoft might catch on.

Look at my goddamn sig. It's been like that for a month or two, and I boosted almost all my achievements. Even the online achievements. And I got all the avatar awards free. Microsoft doesn't care.

The problem with this mentality is that developers who look at difficulty levels will get a false sense of what is commonly done without modding. I say commonly done because most of the really difficult ones that take lots of time and are nearly impossible to do unless the developers make concessions in the way the game behaves would not be so commonly achieved. That it is a game and matters little does not even make an excuse alleviating this fact.

For example, I modded the metadata of some Halo 2 campaign maps because for some reason I was stuck on Legendary mode, spending hours trying and failing at a certain point due to the checkpoint system garbage collecting the weapons nearby at a certain point. So I was basically stuck with a plasma pistol against a horde of elites and, well... I was starting to make up excuses why it would be better to just mod the metadata. But now if another player says, "wow, you got all the achievements!", what can I say besides, "yes, but I used a metadata editor on the campaign maps", which would only then advertise that concept to them, something I wouldn't want to do. And then the developers come along and say, "80% of the players obtained that achievement, let's make it much more difficult next time," and it becomes a real problem for the playability of the game. You basically ruin it for other people.
