Actually, it was no prob. I tried again, and Halomods was back up. Thanks anayway.

Also, its quite impressive how far Eschaton has come. I say forget a windows version, they already have all their fancy HMT's and stuff. We really need to focus on an all-purpose Mac tool, and Eschaton's the one. Its gonna be great! The only disadvantage is that it came so late in the Demo modding community, where some of the great modders are slowing down and the rest just dont want to learn... And were running out of ideas, apperently.

My HHK doesn't work either. Even after changing the header it says that the file has an invalid header.

Footer Problem...

Post by shep » Wed Jun 13, 2007 11:26 am

Hi, I'm kinda new here. I have been watching the forums for a while but haven't made an account because I wasn't having much trouble. But now HHK is being kinda odd... I was trying to put the pelican into the multiplayer game, but each time I change the header of b30.map and try to open it in HHK, it gives me a message saying that it was not created with HHK, etc, and then starts to splice the file. But before it can get anywhere, it stops and says "That map file's Index header has an invalid footer." I have tried the header a lot of times, and I'm pretty sure I have the right hex code. I also looked at the footer, and it looked normal to me. Any suggestions?

Yeah... I dont like HHK either. It seems it's stopped working for everyone. >_< At least Eschaton is coming out. So just live with it for now...

XD!

Yeah, my HHK is workin' fine.

Shep, I've never heard of any kinda of problem like you have... That's very unusual. Try re-downloading HHK here.

Best of luck.

Ah, thanks Syperium! That worked :D .
Now I can finally try out the pelican.
I was using Eschaton before (which is awesome) but it was having troubles importing vehicles.
I think that HHK will work better though.

EDIT: The header for b30.map didn't work... but I fixed that by using the code to the 810th hex line from the full version b30.map.

Instead of saying

Code: Select all

00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 74 6F 6F 66
18 D8 9C 41 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
00 00 00 00 70 73 62 73 6D 74 69 62 64 E6 F3 4B
it says

Code: Select all

00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 74 6F 6F 66
18 A0 33 41 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
00 00 00 00 70 73 62 73 6D 74 69 62 18 BF 48 40

No problem. :wink:.

And... that's an unusual fix. I didn't know that HHK looked at the 810th line. I thought it only looked at the offsets '5E8' '5EC' and '2C4' and defined weather the I.D of the map was right. I didn't know you need to have the whole header changed. Hmm...

Header = 800 lines

810? Past the header. Plenty weird...

Yup... But... at least he fixed it... I still don't know how that had any thing to do with it though... Haha.

I really screwed up... Maybe I don't understand any of it, maybe I highlighted the wrong number of lines. Whatever it is, I have to redownload Halo Demo for the fifth time ><

I know it's kinda stupid, but would anyone be willing to email me this mod so I can look at the files and see what I did wrong?

Sorry if I broke any rules, I looked through the stickies and didn't find anything against this ^^;
