[Tut] Jpt!, Effe, proj editing weapons...

Chapter i. > Mod2 and proj, and weap Jpt!
*if you are modding original map, make sure to back up your files.*

Open your mod/ original in Eschaton ( for you, open the original, im opening a mod im making called tops.)

Now first well mod the weapons (from bottom up- so first is Sniper Rifle)
*You can mess with meta editing but i dont do that much.*

Then open The reference swapper tag and look at that page.

MAKE SURE ON FAR RIGHT < LOCATION ^ > IS HIGHLIGHTED!
Now click the first mod2

That is the model that you see while A. looking at someone holding it or B. looking at it on the ground
IF you want edit that to a diffferent weapon. so if you swap that to mod2\<weapon>\<weapon> NO FP people will see you holding a rocket and when you look at sniper at ground it is a rocket.
The second mod2 is for FP (first-person) this is what YOU see holding in YOUR hands. edit this the same way
* you probalbly want to make it mod2\<weapon>\FP of the same weapon above*

Once you have edited the mod2, you want to edit the weap JPT!

This is the melee damage. ( when you hit someone)
The only thing you can really do to this is swap it with Globals/Vehicles/collision
That will make it a super-punch : D.
Now we will go to proj editing. double click

This will take you to the proj editing.

Click the reference swapper tab.

Green= edit the sound tags by swapping sound with this
Red= this is damage. swap this with other JPT! tags to make the sniper bullet damage different. Example: swap it with tank shell explosion and it will be one hit kill.
okay. now the tags below the colors are the effe about what happens when you shoot a type of metal or terrain. By modding this, you can make one weapon have regular damage if shot at the rock, but explode when it hits a cliff!
its pretty self-explanatory to which effe is which.
*Note: for other weapons like rocket launcher you can mod the effe tag that says
Weapons\<weapon>\effects\Explosion to make explosion different. same with other explosive weapons.

Now you know how to customize Damage and Change the Model, and change the effect.

Pretty good tutorial, very easy to follow.

hey amy, dont say dont mess with the ones under the red one. like i did with the ghost gun, you can swap the effe tag that says hit cyborg shield or something to shell explosion and when the sheild depletes, he will blow up!

lol thats like what i do with my maps folder

You know...Eschaton has a lot of stuff to play with

You can change jpt! damage u know that? Dont have to swap it with vehicle collision.

You mainly just put stuff as Reference Swapping, which is okay, but ill say you put a BIT of meta stuff in it (cause modders have to learn themselves too)

Make sure you teach ppl how to edit damage, so that when the sniper shoots tank shells, it does little damage, a bit like my Fuels and Rockets CSS mod which has lots of projectile changes and lots of tuned damage, which is my first mod. lol

Overall, this is probably the basics of modding...which is pretty good.

you should try meta editing, after you know the basics of d-swapping.
and after tat, you can even edit the effects itself~ :D

Meta is extremely useful

but you cant edit contrail colors with it

for this tut im just telling how to make damage like other weaps, make explosions like other weap, and make effe tags like other weaps


so to make it so the newbies dont just use proj swaps...they actually change some damage and effects..,


Updated with new effe tuts.

and sugarlumps yes you may add. just post what you want to add and ill copy and paste to original post.

but it has to be about weapon editing.
