Photoshop CS3 Extended.

It doesn't necessarily need to be Photoshop; there are other free graphic editors out there that are reasonably good, like GIMP.

You can use GIMP, Or SEASHORE for something simpler to use.
The armaments which thunderstrike the walls
And monarchs tremble in their capitals.
The oak leviathans, whose huge ribs make
Of lord of thee, and arbiter of war;
Alike the Armada's pride, or spoils of Trafalgar.

Are you sure you're opening the image correctly? =_= Gimp should be able to open most image formats.

You might want to add a part about normal maps (halo call's 'em bump maps). They make a texture appear 3d. Gimp has a filter that makes a normal map for you (filter->maps->normalmap); photoshop probably has the same thing. You could also talk about masks, which I don't know much about but they are part of skinning. Cool tut but could've had more info.

Ooh, that's a good idea. Only I don't work with bump maps much. I'll think about it. ^_^

Didn't want to put too much info in; just straight to the point.
