Re: MacGamingMods Youtube / Videos / Tuts
Who the hell is slappy? Doesnt matter... That logo is pure win, taxi. I can easily imagine slapping that into the corner of a video or, (even better) onto a t-shirt. Now to make an animated intro. I suggest we steal Bungie's intro music (first ten seconds of this). I was possibly thinking something like the Spore intro, but it seems 10 seconds is too long for that. Maybe I will semi-copy Bungie's intro... It could work.

^Slappey was my old name.
My plan was to post occasionally as Perception, to either help someone, or release something I had discovered.
Unfortunately, I got a little carried away with this topic
Since my guest approach was a bit frowned upon, I'll do it this way, cause I happen to like perception a lil better, as it makes one think, about their experiences around them.
However, After my assistance in this topic is complete, I will be quite scarce around the forums.
Actually, it wasn't about respect, it was the fact that I'm sorta 'quitting' the forums. The only reason I still have this account, is so I can still access MMT.teh mod god wrote: Slappey, I know you're just trying to act cool, but this Perception stuff is fail.
You're respected the same way with either alias.

Re: MacGamingMods Youtube / Videos / Tuts
Ok, so best idea I have come up with is this:
Either have lots of animated cubes moving about forming structures of some sort which zooms out to be revealed as a spot on the logo
OR
binary and/or hex floating around in a blank area, zooming out to reveal the blocks (atoms) that make up the symbol
Problems... Animating lots of boxes is tedious. Getting the particle systems to work correctly is also tedious for the binary thing (but much easier to animate). Getting an "infinite" plane that is revealed as the logo surface is really hard. Its a freakin lot of cubes. I can render some 20x20x2 grid in about 5 minutes per frame, but anything more than that will require a MacBook pro or better. Ill bet I can get the logo over to a 3D model though (and I already have an appropriate lighting style!)
Will work on it later. Right now I have to prepare for school, meaning the work I didnt do today and the essay tomorrow (today IS tomorrow, so the REAL tomorrow) that I didnt prepare for in almost any way. Now its 2 AM and my attempt to work back into a normal sleep cycle is shot. I hope you are happy...

That sounds like a good idea, but resembles the bungie intro much, well either way nice thinking, its blender time!draconic74 wrote:Ok, so best idea I have come up with is this:

I might be able to do something...
The armaments which thunderstrike the walls
And monarchs tremble in their capitals.
The oak leviathans, whose huge ribs make
Of lord of thee, and arbiter of war;
Alike the Armada's pride, or spoils of Trafalgar.

Ill work on it in school a bit when I am supposed to be reading/"doing homework". I love mentorship, its essentially a time for doing nothing or everything.
Also, thought of a new version that would be easier to animate and is even closer to Bungie's. Simply a box that buds into a nother box, which bud into 2 more. And then 4 more. And 8, 16, 32. You know, all those binary values (base 2,
). Eventually it gets too big for my comp to handle. This is the good part: we zoom out and those boxes are now a "colony" or pixels. There are multiple other colonies. And in a few seconds they exponentially grow and form the symbol. In Bungie's, its the CG bacteria that grow to colonize the world which becomes the dot on the I. Plus, with this method I dont have to make cubes going away from the camera, which would significantly reduce the time for render (it would still be some in the hundreds of cubes. It isnt a problem until I round the corners and make them smooth though)

Do we want to go closer to bungie's or further away is the question.draconic74 wrote:Ill work on it in school a bit when I am supposed to be reading/"doing homework". I love mentorship, its essentially a time for doing nothing or everything.

I like this idea.crazyshroom wrote:I think instead of having two mods i was thinking of having an eschaton window in one of window since that is core of our mods.

Re: MacGamingMods Youtube / Videos / Tuts
Alright, so I made a test of the effect I wanted to achieve (in a different way than I had intended, as well). Here is we I have:
Its ok, but as said in the description for the video, extremely time consuming to do and I would imagine there are better ways to do it including a particle system that shoots out two particles with the original objects attributes which would spawn two more particles each. In effect, its just chainspawning the same thing over and over, but only until I tell it to stop. The other idea (not sure how it might be possible) is to use arrays. Except for the particle method, all the things I do will produce that annoying black shadow glitch meaning two object's faces exist in the same spot. >_<
I might ask the blender community for some help.
PS: LAWLZ at the new sig, Hostbot. Great idea.

@above post, lol thanks, nice idea for the animation, I think you can use some help though. Just IM halodemo002. He knows enough in blender to help you.

Re: MacGamingMods Youtube / Videos / Tuts
Ok, better video (youtube cut off the other one -_- )
I have posted a topic asking about how one might use a script or blender tool to create the bacterial cube effect on a large scale. I would NOT want to do this manually. I have to copy, move, seperate IPO curve, set IPO curve value, then repeat, making sure not to have one cube spawn more than one other cube. Its lots of work just for the above video...
We will see what the Blenderartist.org community suggests.

If that animation took forever... think about the poor CE animators

Dead. derp

Ill try my hand at something similar.
The armaments which thunderstrike the walls
And monarchs tremble in their capitals.
The oak leviathans, whose huge ribs make
Of lord of thee, and arbiter of war;
Alike the Armada's pride, or spoils of Trafalgar.
