Re: HaloMD
There are a great deal of tutorials in the halo demo section of the forums.
This is the tutorial I started with. It's using an old build of eschaton but it's basically the same, for vehicle swapping at least.
You can find the tools for modding here: http://www.halodemomods.com/wiki/Tools
I'd recommend you download the original files Here.
Read this for how to install your mods.

Re: Vehicle Tags
Thanks Mgalekgolo! The tools all work and I'm trying to import space banshee tags right now. Thanks!!!
Re: HaloMD
Actually, i tried to import a flyable pelican into bloodgulch, and i completely messed it up.
could you post screenshots of importing a flyable pelican into bloodgulch?
P.S, i have K9 web protection on my computer, so that's why i didn't ask for a video.

Re: HaloMD
how do i get ppl on pc to play? my friends want to play forestbases on my server and they cant cause it doesnt work
Re: HaloMD
HaloMD does not support PC's.someguywhoplayshalo? wrote:how do i get ppl on pc to play? my friends want to play forestbases on my server and they cant cause it doesnt work
That said, it's possible for them to play, it's just more difficult. They need the full version of Halo PC updated to latest version (Halo Trial won't work), download the mod, unzip it, place the forestbases_1.map file in their halo pc maps folder. They can then join your server via direct IPing your server (whose IP will be listed on the web lobby.)

I am no longer active to Halo or MGM, and don't guarantee a response on the forums or through email. I will however linger around the discord room for general chatting. It's been fun!
Re: HaloMD
Hey!
I've been playing MD for several months now and I'm looking to add some mods to it. What kind of mods are compatible with the game? Where can I download new ones?
Thanks!

If you go into the menubar, there's a Mods menu, and in that there is an Install Mod menu. In there is a list of mods you can install. New mods are added when people make new mods and request me to put them on that list.
To host a particular mod that you have installed, go into the Mods menu and select the mod you want to play.
If you're interested in modding halo maps yourself:
This isn't completely finalized yet, but for now, basically:
*In HaloMD's menu bar, go to Mods -> Reveal Mods in Finder; this will reveal where all your current mods and map files are.
*Download and launch MDRenamer
*Pick a short name and build number as described here (eg: pick dogmod as short name, and 1 as build number).
*Click 'Pick Mod'. Select the bloodgulch map in the Maps folder that you had just revealed. Drag the map into the file dialog.
*A second dialog will show up for picking a destination. Pick the Maps folder you had revealed.
*In HaloMD's Mods menu bar, you should now see your mod listed: select it to enable it. A map was also created in the maps folder (e.g: named dogmod_1.map).
Modding:
*Download Eschaton.
*Open your modded map in it.
*Follow a tutorial.
Maybe someone else could give more input on modding if you're interested in doing it.

Thanks so much nil! That's exactly what I needed to know.
One more question: when you join a game that needs a mod, you are asked to install whatever mod you need in a popup. So say I host my custom mod on an internet game, will other people be able to get on, seeing as that mod is not available for them to download from wherever that mod database is?
Thanks again!

EDIT: Woohoo!!! I just tried the Renamer app with a CE map I downloaded and it works great! Thanks so much!

Re: HaloMD
They won't see your server listed unless you either a) manually send them the mod or b) request for the mod to be put up on the database.Ri-dog wrote: Hey!

Halodemomods.com is down. Mod downloading fails in halo MD. Update check fails. HDM shows blank page.

Check general discussion as to why.Mgalekgolo wrote:Halodemomods.com is down. Mod downloading fails in halo MD. Update check fails. HDM shows blank page.
I am going to have to migrate the database and everything to elsewhere, preferably to MGM. I hope to do this in a week or so.

Re: HaloMD
Ah, I saw that post, but I never finished reading it. Well, I don't know if I have any backups of my old mods. I'd hate for those, and all the others to be lost.

Re: HaloMD
Nil, if I can help, don't hesitate to ask.
Re: HaloMD
I still have a decent-sized collection of Demo mods on my other computer from the HDemoLauncher era. Some mods will be lost though. Nothing we can do about that. And it's not exactly a new thing. The majority of Mac mods before MGM's time were lost as well.Mgalekgolo wrote:Ah, I saw that post, but I never finished reading it. Well, I don't know if I have any backups of my old mods. I've moved HaloMD over onto MGM and moved the web lobby over. Links are updated in the first post.
By uploading a zipped copy of your mod on a website like mediafire or dropbox or something and sending me the link. I had to relocate the database onto another server though. Currently, HaloMD players won't be able to download mods until I release an update (within a week or so I'm hoping).Ri-dog wrote:Ok... how would I go about getting a mod to you?
Since HDM's link is now broken, I can no longer send an update notice through the app directly. I'm going to play with the idea of alerting users to do a mandatory update through the lobby instead.
[EDIT]: There also seems to be a recent problem with the dedicated servers (corang's tank one and stoutie's CH one). Somehow they both appear to be shut down every once in a while. Corang thinks it's a ddos attack.
