You must have done something wrong. HMT exports it as a jpg file last time i checked.

Yeah, you have to be sure to export the image from HMT as a .JPG file. Then you open it in Photoshop.

That's one of the most important steps lol. Don't worry though, I had the same problem when I started out.
Back in Black (& White).
And every other color in the light spectrum perceptible to the human eye, typically those ranging from 400 nanometers to roughly 700 nanometers in wavelength.

Just don't forget to re-import it and make the header changes once you are finished.

I know how to skin halo with HMT by editing the bitmaps.map file, but I think I've seen mods that change the look of things without changing the bitmaps.map file (like the coliseum mod). How is this done?

There's bitmaps in Bloodgulch you know? If you have the 4 byte offset list you would know.

No, the only thing you can do is swap and replace bitmaps. This is usefull, but restricted to bitmaps in BG. The advantage is people dont have to download bitmaps, but in return the bitmaps in the mod must be swapped or replaced *ONLY*.

Just swap the offsets. The offsets are in Monoman's offset list.

Maybe he meant swap the values?....It's just a normal 4 byte swap or 16 byte replacement in the bitmaps section of bloodgulch.
