I don't care about my inventory, but for my chests, blocks I could build with (stone, cobble, dirt) go in top left corner, tools go bottom left, wool goes top right, natural stuff goes bottom center, and monster drops and miscellaneous goes bottom right

this Is how I usually set up. sometimes its backwards.
I use my mouse Scroll wheel. I cant use the trackpad one, its too annoying.

[Pick][Shovel][Sword][Torches][Axe][Dirt][Randomness for the rest]

Trackpad scrolling is pretty horrible for me, its overly sensitive at times, i use the 1-9 numbers.

i keep things i'm currently using in the last slot, like a bucket, or a door, or food, a compass, stuff like that.
I don't scroll, because my mouse can't scroll cause it's partly broken.

I'm always with
[Sword][Pick][Othertools(if used][Empty] [Empty]....[Empty] [Cobblestone] [Dirt] [Torches]

I also have planks and sticks at the top left corner of my inventory.

No, I just throw the blocks in.

Do you guys follow some sort of order when placing stuff into your inventory? If yes, what is it?

I use this scheme:
[Pickaxe] [Shovel] [Axe] [<blocks>] [<blocks>] [<blocks>] [Bow] [Sword] [Torches]

I find it comfortable 'cause for example: as soon as i pick, with a single scroll backwards i can place torches.
If a monster comes out of nowhere sword and bow are easily accessible.
If i have to go gather wood i put saplings in the leftmost <blocks> space, so that as soon as i cut a tree down it takes me the least time to plant it back, et cetera… o_o

Do you guys do anything like this too?
