k so i brought a bunch of obsidian into the nether, i travel pretty far, cant find my original portal. i make another in the nether, no problems. i end up in some random place. i have always had a compass, so that was no problem. i have been walking, mining, and boating(?) my way to my spawn for over 30 minutes(i still dont know where i am). anyone have any likewise experiences?

1 step in the Nether=8 blocks in the real world.

Therefore, there are glitchy portals, as well as lost people.

The Nether can be used for speed traveling, like making 2 portals 8 blocks apart (minimal, or else the portal in the real world will warp you to one of each, because it is too close together).

EDIT: Changed values from 16 to 8. My mistake.

i found my base again. i've never been good with direction. besides, i went to the bottom, and forgot to bring ladders( so i had to make stairs).

Except if you put two portals on earth, chances are it'll only use one, and the other will be lost for eternity.

You go through portal 1, and end up in Nether portal, but seeing as they're both connected to the same portal, you'll generally only come out portal 1 and portal 2 will be rendered useless.

Or you can use flymod.
