Problems

Post by Ghost » Sat Aug 19, 2006 2:58 pm

Greetings

Some may know me some may not. As of a week ago I have not been able to play GR on GR. I have re-installed everything but still cannot play. I can play off line.

Any Ideas?

Can you enter and start Ghost Recon rooms or is GameRanger not recognizing Ghost Recon at all?

Yes I can start GR rooms and play but no one can enter It seems to be
a mod issue but all folders are where they should be. Firewall is off!
Everything is normal but I cannot get into any rooms including the ones
with no mods.

Did this problem start after the most recent GameRanger update? If it did, start up Ghost Recon and create a MP game. Then go to the Server tab after you press Edit Server ingame. Now delete the password that is in the password field. After you do that you can quit and you should now be able to host in GameRanger again.

I went into GR thru GR and there is no password as it is blank. Everytime I try to join a game it's like I have thr wrong mods. Then I get kicked out.

Since you think it is a mod issue, have you tried hosting or joining a game with no mods active? Lately I have seen some rooms hosting with older mods so it could be that you are missing those.

i have had this issue myself a few times due to my own modding, what i did was delete ghost recon but not the mods i downloaded. After that i re-installed ghost recon completely and added IT again which i had stored on disk just incase of stuff up like this. then all i had to do was re-download and install the GhR Updates and i was ready to go. this whole process takes around 30 mins due to the installation of GhR. I also put the mods back in their proper place.

Boys, I have as I said in my first post reinstalled GR 5 times all mods are very much up to date. Yes I have tried joining a room without mods and with the stated mods of which I had. I have also looked at the port configurations which were off so I adjusted them and still cannot get into a room. I do not know why Grameranger support does not respond to my e-mails? But thanks just the same I will keep plugging away unless someone can come up with the problem.

GameRanger support seems hit or miss from what I have heard from other people. Have you tried deleting your Ghost Recon preferences?

You can find your Ghost Recon preference file in you User's_Name/Library/Preferences folder. The name of the file is com.aspyr.ghostrecon.plist.

I deleted it and nothing. Everything works perfectly but I cannot join any rooms with or without mods. I am at a lost! All I can do is try and contact
Gameranger but they do not respond. Back to TV and books:(

Thanks for your help, you tried.

Update I can now join non-moded rooms which means I have a mod issue
still working on it, dont know where else to look

if you have a mod issue when u have no mods activated you probally have altered a standered GhR file and forgot about it. but if you have deleted and re-installed GhR several times and deleted your prefs file for GhR Your likely to have a Proxy prob, internet connection prob, internet provider prob. sometimes games don't work properly because you have to much junk on your HDor you simply don't have enough RAM left. Also you could try and delete your cookies that can usually free up alot of space.

I have been able to play some games on Gameranger but now I crash a lot
and still cannot get into some rooms.

I use a netgear router so my question is this, do I need certain settings
for the port or is it automatic?

any help with the settings would be a big help
