Alpha Squad public server
What a great experience. 3.5 hours and I saw one TK. All missions were no spawn. They even completed the latest version of the Olde West mission. Comms were very active, informative, helpful and coordination and tactics were excellent. Check out the public server forum at alphasquad.net

makes mac players look like novices dont it?! IMO, most mac players haven't got a clue about teamwork or how a squad runs effectivly in comparison to how the game is played on their server. How they play just makes sense.
They actually play the game like it's intended. When they insert on a mission, they have a plan, not just people running around shooting the first target without strategically attacking. Actually.... if you don't use teamwork on their server they will politely ask you to leave, if you dont comply they boot your ass. Simple.
I wish more people on gameranger played this way, but i have been saying that since i played on Alpha's pub over a year ago. IMO, 90% of the people who have premium don't use their voice communication properly.
Why does it seem like the majority of Mac players are a few years behind the skill/maturity level of the good PC Ghost Recon Squads?

Yeah, I can relate to that. I only play coop with people I know very well. Over thanks giving week I played all 31 missions of Ghr, DS, and IT with one other person that I know will coordinate attacks, listen, and work together. It's amazing how much more fun it is to actually work together and demolish the enemies. Not to mention the memories of playing GHR SP for the first time with the ORIGINAL weapons. Haha! Actually, it wasn't a shock to me... I still wub my M4

Great server, nice people. Ping isn't the lowest but I've been in some coop games with 18 people there and with no packet loss it's actually very very smooth.
And yea, people actually use their vox there - it's required. No run and gun, there are leaders, plans - no rambo quake stuff.
With all the skill and effort with comms/plans/order around you no respawns feels not so hard.
Check it out.
I use teamspeak when I'm there, hook my headset up to the PC for that and I'm playing there on my Mac cuz I'm still more comfortable that way.

One of the more interesting things on this server is that people vote for a company leader at the start of each mission. You can do this by voice/text obviously but those little radio checkboxes next to the names in the roster where you pick a slot are for voting for "who gets the stripes". Otherwise it's randomly deteremined when the mission begins.
The C.O. assigns weapon load outs to all members, communicates a plan - and people FOLLOW it.
If the C.O. dies then check your roster/leaderboard to see who has the stripes - this has always been part of the game. Then that person continues as the C.O., maintaining leadership of the company.
It's nice to see that with teamwork and communication you can defeat the tough AS missions with no respawns, or complete a 110 tango firefight with no respawns. It's a beautiful thing.
The players on this server also completed the Ungrassy Knolls mission. Amazing. All missions and firefights are always no spawn, on elite.

They play it correctly. Not much more to be said, except i wish more people played like this on gameranger.
There aren't enough people on gameranger promoting/supporting this style of play. People will never learn if they are never taught. I've been trying to promote this style of play since we designed SOG and why I made my tournaments. IMO the majority of players are just to damn lazy to want to play with teamwork, or use any coordinated communication for that matter. I'm gettin more exausted by the fact that everyone wants to play every mission like a firefight, with no tact.
but..... I'm sure the ratio of tactical play to rambo stlye play of PC players is probably around the same percentage as us Mac players, the Alpha Squad Server is just one of the best, you cant really compare it to the general ghost recon player on gameranger nor any ghost recon player on any platform for that matter. I'm sure there are thousands of mindless firefight servers on PC that we aren't aware of.
I dunno tho, im just over it. I want tactical play, i would love to join the alpha server, but without voice communication, i'm not feelin it. When i get teamspeak, someday, i wil be there alot, until then.... *shrug* I guess i'm stuck looking for games, or hosting my own rooms, every so often.
I guess what amazes me so much is how people play the totally opposite to how the game was designed. How the game plays in Single Player is much more accurate to how a squad is deployed than how the average squad on gameranger plays the game. Does anyone else find that kinda ironic? I'm starting to wonder if anyone ever playe in SP to even grasp the concept of the game in the first place.
