Ghost recon 2 for mac?
I think I'll reserve judgement when the PC version comes out although I *do* fantasize about having a PS2 or Xbox so I could play GR2 sooner. Of course I've yet to see any word on if there'll be a Mac version, period, and if the PC version has a updated version of IGOR to make GR 2 missions and mods etc.
UbiRazz, a rep from UBI was quoted in saying:
"The PC version is coming out later as it's getting reworked to make it as good as possible on PC and it's not just a straight, and poor, console port. They're intending to make it an amazing game specifically for the PC platform and are remaking the multiplayer and singleplayer game for it. Check back after Xmas for info on the PC version"

Hi all...
There are two problems for Ghost Recon 2 on the Mac:
1) It's gonna be six months down the line (at least!)...
2) We know that the min. spec. for Mac is gonna put it outa the limit for a great many of the Mac community (who generally don't freak over the whole mhz thing like PC owners do).
I kinda solved this problem by building a cheap PC which I just use for games - and I have been playing Novalogic's 'Joint Operations' a lot.
Joint Ops plays very much like you wish Ghost Recon would had we done a 'wish list'.
Now the reason I am telling you this is that Aspyr have just released 'Blackhawk Down' for the Mac - This is a port of Novalogic's prequel to Joint Operations. In itself the game is mediocre - BUT it allows you to multiplay under Novalogics fantastic NovaWorld server system (think HUGE super-dooper GameRanger!!!)
So I would put this down as a good alternative while we wait for GR2 (by that time I may have a stonking new Mac that can run it - instead of my pityful Blue & White G3 - converted to a 500 G4! LOL)...
I stand no chance - I am a Mac user AND a Scotsman....Let's face it, I am never gonna upgrade unless I REALLY have to! LOL
Seriously - Check out 'Joint Operations' if you have a PC gamer mate...It's Ghost Recon 1 with helicopters, boats and APCs!

I get the odd feeling that GR2 will never even reach the PC. Why do i feel this way?
Probably has something to do with the announcement of Ghost Recon 3.
wtf?!?!

Well, I've yet to play the Xbox release of GhR2 and am already feeling quite pessimistic about its potential ports. My impression, from the reviews I've read, is that this release has strayed from what GhR fans would expect from a sequel. I hope that Ubisoft has not chosen to set aside what has made the Tom Clancy series such a unique FPS gaming experience by shifting design towards a game format that is more universally appealing (less tactical/less realistic/more arcade-like gameplay/etc). The series needs to hold on to what sets it apart from other FPS franchises. Aren't there enough UT's, Quake's, MOH's, and the like out there already? Although these arcade-ish titles are great in their own ways, they ought not be the determinants for all FPS's yet to come. Speaking of this, which FPS genre is actually of greater prominence in the overall online gaming community (Mac and/or PC)?
Yah sure ya betcha!!

Likewise I am starting to get very skeptical about the direction GR is going...
I think the reason GR was so popular on the Mac was that it was a 'thinking persons shooter'. But thinking shooters aren't big sells in the huge console market...
Having said that - just to controdict myself - my girlfriend bought me 'Rainbow 6 III' for my X-Box for X-mas! And it wasn't a complete no-brainer!
In fact there were a few things I would like to see from it being in any potencial GRIII.
Your team AI is good for starters - and the voice control for orders is a brilliant idea...Your team really does take sensible tactical stances during play all by themselves (better than some human players I've 'worked' with! LOL)
But in the end, long complex team-based senarios are not where the console market is...And as for co-op missions! LOL Well, forget it!
But I would like to be proved wrong.
